When you see something unjust, it is best to take action and do something about it. However, that is definitely easier said than done. Speaking up can put you and other people in a dangerous situation. Additionally, it's polite to mind your own business and not get involved in other people's lives.
This is not the case when someone is breaking the law and lives are at risk. Politeness is not what is needed. Intervention is what should happen. Jordan Cooper witnessed a cruel situation and decided to take initiative in order to save the lives of young children.
Jordan Cooper is an expecting mother and a part-time waitress at an Olive Garden in Kentucky. During one of her shifts, she noticed something odd about a family that was eating there.
The dynamics between the couple and their children seemed tense. Cooper sensed something was wrong. As she got a better look at the family, the youngest child caught her attention. The child couldn't have been older than two years old.
At first, the baby had a blanket over her head. To Cooper's horror, she noticed black and blue bruises all over the child's body once the blanket was removed. Additionally, the man grabbed the child harshly, force-fed her, and dragged her into the bathroom when she cried. Cooper was in shock as to why no one else noticed what was going on.
'I first walked around to the baby. She looked at me with a face that said help.' 'I can’t even describe to you how bad she looked, and how and why nobody noticed it.'Cooper told WPSD.

Cooper knew she had to act fast because these children were in grave danger. She decided to ask one of the tables in the restaurant to discreetly capture a picture of the father. She gave them her number so they can text her the picture of the man.
After the man brought the daughter into the bathroom for a third time without a diaper bag, Cooper followed him into the bathroom. She demanded an explanation in regards to what he was doing.
The man was alarmed and rushed to pay the bill. Soon enough, the parents noticed the unwanted attention of other people and took their children to the car and fled. They left the eatery so fast, the baby wasn't even strapped into her car seat. Meanwhile, Cooper jotted down their license plate and immediately called the police and the Department of Children and Family Services.
Unfortunately, the police and DCFS couldn't track the car that was linked to that license plate. Instead of waiting around, she decided to post on Facebook about the situation in hopes that someone may find them.
Her friend, Aaron Caldwell, saw her post and decided to try his best to locate the man and woman. Caldwell happens to be a dispatcher.
Using the comments on the Facebook post, Caldwell was able to identify the man from the restaurant. By the time he discovered this information, Cooper's post already had over 1,400 shares, Caldwell shared with WSIL. Caldwell contacted the police and gave them Pierce's address.
When the police arrived at the house, they noticed the bruises all over the child. The police were horrified by the living circumstances. The parents were identified as Mark Lee Pierce and Jessica Woodworth of Tennesse.
They were charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect. They are currently in jail with a $200,000 bail. The youngest child was sent to the emergency room. Currently, the children are in state custody.
In an interview with Yahoo lifestyle, Cooper says she is glad she intervened when she did. She also decided to take down her original Facebook post since the children were safe. Caldwell advised everyone to take initiative if they see something wrong. Any tip, no matter how small, can save lives.
