It's no secret that many people are suspicious of pit bulls. Some people think they are naturally violent dogs bred specifically for fighting. Many decide to turn their back on these animals altogether, believing they aren't well fit for families.

Despite these common misconceptions, animal lovers all over the world know that pit bulls can be sweet, loyal, and just as gentle as any other dog breed. Aimee, a young pit bull pup, was carted off to the local shelter in 2015 after being diagnosed with a persistent skin condition. It appears that her owners didn't want to deal with frustration and financial burden of treating her, opting instead to ship her to the Carson Animal Care Center in California.

She was friendly yet very shy so animal care workers were concerned that her condition was causing her pain. Additionally, dogs in new environments are often stressed and skittish, which made treating her nearly impossible for the overburdened shelter. Luckily, members of the community care about pairing adoptable pets with families. One organization, dubbed Saving Carson Shelter Dogs, is dedicated solely to showcasing animals housed in the Carson Shelter in order to improve their chances of adoption. Aimee, who was running out of time in the shelter, had one last bid before she would've been put down.

The moment that volunteers noticed Aimee, they knew she would make a perfect fit for a family somewhere in the world. That very same day, the organization posted the video of Aimee and told her story of abandonment. Aimee demonstrated just how gentle, kind, and sweet she could be for the camera, giving the performance her all.

Only a few days after the video was posted, multiple families offered to adopt her. Now, a video of Aimee sprinting excitedly out of the shelter has amassed over 300,000 views. The pure joy on her face is completely unmistakable and it's clear that she's going to love her new family.

It's unthinkable how some owners just abandon their dogs over harmless issues like appearance. What do you think about Aimee's story?
