Rescued Dog Has Heartwarming Reaction To Seeing Ocean For The First Time And Goes Viral

When an animal sees a sight for the first time after being chained outside for so long or being in captivity for so long, it's a magical experience.

Herschel spent about five years of his life as a playful German Shepherd chained to a post. With little room to move around, he wasn't able to venture far from the area until someone came along to rescue him.

Herschel was rescued more than one time by people who wanted to make sure that he was happy. When someone rescues a dog like Herschel that has been chained for so long and hasn't had the freedom that a dog deserves, the animal can often be protective and seen as an aggressive breed.

These dogs are only seeking love and attention and aren't sure how to get that point across, so after being rescued for the first time, Herschel was taken to a shelter.

Since he was taken back to the shelter, it meant that it would likely be hard to find him an owner who could calm his nerves and who could provide the comforting environment that he would need.

Herschel would need someone who was willing to work with him and have patience instead of someone who would only take him back to the shelter when things were rough.

Save Our Shelter gave Herschel a chance and took him under the organization's wing. Rocky Kanaka, known for his show "Dog's Day Out," assisted in the rescue efforts and was able to give Herschel a day that he would remember.

While enjoying time outside, Herschel got to show off his athletic moves and was also able to show just how caring he could be as a dog.

Rocky took Herschel to an area where he could see snow for the first time. While in the snow, Herschel ran around and jumped in the fluffy white powder. He gave Rocky hugs to show that he was a loving dog that just needed a chance at life.

Soon, Rocky took Herschel to Los Angeles so that he could see the ocean for the first time. After a long road trip, Herschel was finally going to Washington where he would meet his new family.
