A calf, approximately two weeks old, was recently rescued during an animal neglect investigation. The calf was undernourished, ill, and in need of a new home.

Carly Henry heard about the calf and jumped at the opportunity to help her. Carly says she had always been told by people the love of a cow is unlike anything else.

Carly is the owner and operator of Carly's Critter Camp. The sanctuary for animals is located not far from Austin, Texas. There are all kinds of animals who have been rescued and provided with a home on Carly's farm. But this calf was extremely young and would require around the clock care.

The calf would need to live inside the home Carly shares with her husband, dogs, and cats. It took a little convincing for Carly's husband to sign off on the idea.

“I’ve heard people say that the love of a cow is the best thing ever,” she told The Dodo.

Carly says she showed her husband a picture of the calf. The calf was at a foster home and all wrapped in blankets. She told her husband she wanted to bring the calf home and bottle feed her.

Carly says her husband took a moment to consider the idea before looking at her and telling her she was crazy. He did, however, agree to her plan.

No sooner than the words of agreement came from the mouth of her husband, Carly was on the phone with the foster who had helped save the life of the calf.

Carly named the calf Tulip. To her surprise, her husband fell as deeply in love with the calf as she did once Tulip arrived at their home. Carly says the stories she heard about the love from a cow was correct. Tulip kissed on them constantly and loved to have her ears rubbed.

Tulip got along well with the other animals in the Henry home and chose a dog bed for her place to sleep. Carly says from the moment Tulip came into the home she became comfortable sleeping on the dog bed in her bedroom.

Carly's husband was so amused at the quick adaptation of the calf to his home he decided to record a video. You can hear the amusement in the man's voice when he jokes about a calf being in his bedroom as just another day in the Henry household.
