Rescue Pit Bull Has The Sweetest Grin

Dog dad Jon Bozak shared a compilation video of Brinks the pit bull’s ability to smile, which has since made Brinks internet-famous. Bozak first realized that his dog could smile just like a human after he first rescued the canine from the mean streets of New York in 2012.

If you've never adopted an animal from your local shelter before, you should consider it. Watching your new pet transform before your eyes is a magical experience. Jon Bozak rescued a pit bull named Brinks.

Brinks was living in the streets of New York when he was young—over 12 years ago—and Bozak quickly discovered just how grateful Brinks was to have a home. In the car on his way back to Bozak's house, Brinks started grinning, and, to hear Bozak tell it, he's never stopped.

Densely populated areas, such as New York, often have issues with stray animals. Sadly, individuals will often abandon their pets on the side of the road if they decide they can no longer care for them. Alternatively, an owner may have a dog who has puppies. Instead of rehoming these animals, when they're old enough, they leave them at a park or an apartment complex and hope someone takes them.

When Bozak saw Brinks, he knew he couldn't leave him to fend for himself. Brinks approached Bozak almost immediately, with minimal coaxing. He was still young, with a lot of energy and the desire to be loved. Bozak knew that he couldn't leave Brinks behind — it wasn't even an option. He led him back to his car, where Brinks almost immediately jumped into the front seat, excited to go for a ride.

When interviewed, Bozak admitted that he wasn't looking for another dog when he found Brinks. However, within moments of being in the car, Brinks started smiling at him. From there, Bozak knew that if he couldn't find Brinks' owners, he would have to keep him. That smile was just far too endearing.

Once home, Bozak did try to locate Brinks' owners. He spent about two months periodically posting flyers with his image on them. After about eight weeks, Bozak decided that no one was coming forward to claim Brinks, and he officially became a part of the family.

Since then, Brinks smiles all the time, except maybe when his dad tells jokes. Dogs rescued from shelters and off the streets are quite frequently known for displaying grateful behaviors. When at a shelter, you'll encounter animals that are timid initially. They often cower in the corner of their kennel and shy away from attempts to socialize.

Shelter experiences can be especially overwhelming for dogs. As soon as you let them out of their kennels, however, you may see that they are an entirely different animal. They're suddenly excited, energetic, and loving. They may even cover you in kisses, run around in circles, or jump on you from time to time.

Mild-mannered dogs might cuddle with you on the couch and keep you company throughout the day. No matter how they choose to express it, almost every dog is relieved and grateful when they get to go to their forever homes. Brinks proved this to Bozak almost immediately.

Once the pittie knew he would be taken care of, he grinned. He simply hasn't stopped smiling since. His dad has tons of pictures of Brinks grinning like he's the happiest dog in the world. Imagine waking up every day and knowing that another being appreciates the effort you put into taking care of them — nobody can resist that.

Let us know if you are as enchanted by Brinks' grin as we are. Would you have been able to pass him up when you saw him running through the streets? Feel free to tell us your personal experience with adorable adoption happiness in the comments and be sure to pass this along.
