Well-Trained Rescued Golden Retriever Sits Outside Pennsylvania Store With Sign Around His Neck While He Patiently Waits For His Owner Inside

It's not just any dog that you can leave parked out in front of a busy store entrance and expect to find there when you get back. Most dogs, even good dogs, would be gone within minutes.

When Steve Moore was contacted by reporters about Jackson, his Golden Retriever, Moore told WTAJ News that he was amazed at how everyone wanted to take Jackson home with them after meeting him, considering that the dog had been rescued from a shelter just a few weeks earlier when it had seemed that nobody wanted him.

Wearing a handmade sign that read "Dad told me to wait here” and “Me waiting”, three-year-old Jackson received an abundance of praise and petting while waiting on Moore, who was inside the store buying water and snacks. Not once did he stray from his assigned spot.

Moore believes that, with enough time and work, you can train just about any dog to do the kinds of things that Jackson is becoming famous for. And, surely, the blueberry and peanut butter molasses treats that Jackson earns for a job well done don’t hurt anything, either.

Moore is assured that he would not have brought Jackson to Target and left him unattended outside if he weren’t sure that Jackson would stay safe from a run in with the multitude of vehicles passing in front of the store. Moore has worked extensively with Jackson to teach him exactly when to stay put and when to come running.
