Dogs are so amazing. They have hearts big enough not just for their own species, but also for humans. They are always willing to help, work, play, and communicate with their people. But some dogs go even further than that. One remarkable dog is fostering two baby kittens who were abandoned next to a road. The kittens were taken in by Howl of A Dog, an organization that mostly sponsors abandoned Romanian dogs. However, in this case, the charity has managed to save three animals at the same time.

A Rough Beginning

These poor little animals needed a lot of love to get better. When the kittens were found, they were in very bad shape. Their fur was dirty. They were covered in fleas. They smelled terrible. Clearly, no one was taking care of them. Not a mother cat and not a human family. The first step was to give them a bath.

Everyone knows that cats typically don't like water, so they had to be introduced to it carefully. The first step was to handle them gently. Sprinkling a little bit of water on them helped acclimatize them to the idea of a bath. Soon, they were willing to be washed and even dried off. They were starting to realize that the people who'd found them were friends, not threats.

Making Introductions

The two kittens would clearly need to learn how to act from other animals. They didn't have a mother in the area. They hadn't been doing well at keeping themselves clean or well-groomed. The workers at Howl of A Dog had an idea, though. They'd introduce the kittens to Safin. Safin is a big, friendly dog. He greeted the kittens with a play bow. At first, they weren't sure quite what to think of him. They kept to their little round bed. But soon, they were friends.

Safin really took an interest in the kittens. He was always sniffing them as they played. Soon they were used to him. Safin also took the time to groom the kittens. He licked their fur and kept them clean and fresh, just like any proud parent would. Today, they are a happy, unconventional family. Along with another dog named Charlie, they have lots of fun playing together.
