Rescue Cat Falls Head Over Heels In Love With Golden Retriever

In this popular video uploaded to YouTube in 2019, a golden retriever and rescue kitten seem to be best friends, with the former often seen carrying the latter in a basket and sometimes as a backpack.

Cats and dogs are usually natural enemies. Dogs think it's fun to chase cats, and cats don't appreciate being chased without their express permission.

But nurture can outweigh nature, just as it has with this adorable rescue kitten and her best friend, a golden retriever. The video is a montage of clips showing the two best buddies interacting. When the tabby was young, the dog carried her in a basket. As she grew, so did the trust between the two.

Each appears to see the other not just as a friend, but as a really good cuddle buddy and convenient pillow. Sometimes the cat will sleep splayed on the dog's head, her chin resting between his ears, the rest of her stretched along his shoulders. Amazingly, the dog doesn't mind. They both sleep peacefully.

In other clips the cat uses the rest of the dog as a bed, stretching out across his back or side. Often they sleep next to each other, pressed up close, heads or paws touching. Occasionally the dog will use the kitty for a little fluffy pillow. She is happy to have the pooch's head resting on her. Perhaps it makes her feel safe and protected.

When cats feel totally secure they will sit with the tummies exposed. In one hilarious shot, the video shows the dog sound asleep on the couch. The cat sits up against him, human style, her belly showing and her feel splayed. All she's missing is the popcorn and the movie.

In another jaw-dropping clip, the cat again lays out along the dog's back, but they aren't sleeping. The dog is giving her a ride! Apparently this dog has learned that cats are to be pampered, and he agreed to be her chariot.

Though the video doesn't show it, the owners say that when the cat had kittens, the peaceful golden retriever became an honorary mom to the new kittens. A lot of families have cats and dogs that live together. Often they reach a kind of uneasy truce where one puts up with the other. But in this case, the cat and dog have truly bonded on an incredibly deep level.
