When it comes to country music artists, it doesn’t get much better than Alan Jackson. Jackson has a way of inspiring his listeners with heartfelt ballads that recall subjects as diverse as the ache that comes from a broken heart to the joy that one feels when welcoming a new child into your family.

Jackson’s music speaks to real world events that any person might experience in their life. In his hit single “Remember When,” Jackson looks back on his life with his listeners.

Released in 2003 as the second single off his compilation album Greatest Hits Volume II, “Remember When” peaked at number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and has become one of his signature hits. Achieving gold certification from the RIAA, “Remember When” is a nostalgic look back at the events in the life of a loving couple. Jackson’s beautiful lyrics take the listener from the couple’s first moments together, to celebrating the birth of their children, to the joy of their golden years. While these moments are full of happiness and sadness, the couple have one constant: the love they feel for each other.

In the music video created for "Remember When," Jackson strums his guitar as his own family photos appear in the background. In one moment, Jackson’s wife Denise also appears in the video, dancing with her husband.

Born in Newnan, George on October 17, 1958, Jackson showed an early interest in music when he began singing as part of his church’s choir. In his youth, Jackson mostly preferred to listen to gospel music, but quickly developed a love for country tunes when a friend introduced him to the genre.

Upon graduating from high school, Jackson formed his own group called Dixie Steel. Later on, at age 27, Jackson moved to Nashville with Denise, whom he had married in 1979, to start a full-time career as a country music singer.

Jackson’s career took off with the release of his 1990 album Here in the Real World. Since then, Jackson has received countless accolades, including two Grammy Awards, 16 Country Music Association Awards, and 17 Academy of Country Music Awards. Jackson has also sold 75 million records worldwide and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2017.

In the end, “Remember When” is a beautiful song that celebrates the joys of true love. The song is also an exceptional example of Jackson’s award-winning catalog and the country music genre in general.
