Remember The Drone Man Who Asked Out A Woman Dancing On A Roof? He Met Her While Inside A Giant Inflatable Ball

Coronavirus has plunged the world into crisis, with many businesses and travel almost coming to a standstill. But that doesn't mean love or dating is on hold. Jeremy Cohen, a New York City-based photographer, posted a video on his Instagram recently which showed him flying his drone across the street to a woman he'd seen dancing on her rooftop. Attached to the drone was his phone number. Not only did she reply, but the two subsequently went on two dates –– with Jeremy getting creative and arriving inside a giant inflatable ball. Luckily, he captured the moments along the way in a sweet and funny series of short videos.

Part one in the video series begins with the background story, titled "A story about a quarantined cutie". Jeremy details in voiceover that one day he looked over from his balcony and saw a girl dancing on her rooftop. He felt compelled to say hi to her and so he waved. Luckily for him, she waved back with a big smile.

He then explains that he grabbed his drone and taped his phone number onto it, obviously armed with a plan. While mentioning that flirting is normally hard for him, he was craving some social interaction and so he went for it. Despite a rocky start to 2020, Jeremy got lucky, as the girl named Tori, texted him back within an hour!

Following that sweet introduction, we move onto part two. After texting to get to know each other, Jeremy suggests the two get dinner, while Tori replies "How?" Before revealing his plans, Jeremy gives us a montage of his date-night prep, which includes shaving, brushing his teeth, doing some push-ups, and giving himself a haircut.

It's then 5pm and he explains it's time for their date. In a hilarious reveal he shows that she isn't on the balcony next to him –– as he explains "Just kidding, we follow the rules" –– but back on her rooftop, where he first laid eyes on her. She waves from across the street, as both Jeremy and Tori are seated in front of dinner tables complete with a white tablecloth, flowers, red wine, and of course a meal.

In a sweet moment, he yells over to her that she looks beautiful, and the pair enjoy their matching organic, microwaveable dinners while talking on FaceTime. Jeremy admits he was able to set up the first date with the sneaky help of Tori's roommate. He leaves us with the information that if all goes well he might soon be in a long-distance relationship with someone living across the street from him.

Finally, we come to part three of this budding modern romance. Jeremy gets himself ready inside the giant inflatable ball, before walking across the street to greet Tori. She seems to love his smart social distancing idea, bursting into laughter the second she sees him. He even brought her flowers and hand sanitizer as gifts, however he couldn't give them to her as they were inside the ball with him.

They managed to have a nice stroll around the neighborhood, before a cop car pulled up. But instead of being in trouble, the police officer recognized their story from Channel 4 news, prompting Jeremy and Tori to take a bunch of selfies with the officers. Jeremy leaves this final video with a warm message, writing: "Just because we have to social distance, doesn't mean we have to be socially distant. Remember to spread love and kindness to another."

Speaking with Bored Panda, Jeremy explained how he came up with the idea of the plastic ball: "I was thinking about buying one because I thought it could be a way to make people smile walking around the city while also being safe, but I couldn't find any online. Then my artist friend, Pablo Rochat, posted a link to one in his story (I think as a joke). I couldn't believe he found an actual link to buy one, so I immediately purchased it. Then I met Tori and I think it was right before our first date, it arrived in the mail and I realized it would make for a perfect second date."

Though he explained that the pair couldn't converse much "since it was difficult to hear each other since I was in a bubble, but we laughed the whole time we walked in the neighborhood together." He added, "Hopefully, some people copy me! I'd be flattered––it's safe, fun, and it gives people a reason to smile which is what we could use a little more of now."

Not only is their story sweet, but it's sent a positive message to everybody in this tough time. In a previous interview with Bored Panda, Jeremy talked about his sudden fame, saying: "It makes me feel good to know people are rooting for me, but more importantly, it gives something for people to believe in during these strange and dark times. If this story brings joy to people, then it brings joy to me."

In a touching ode to his mom, he said in the same interview: "I don't think I would have been capable of doing any of this without my mom, Eva Grayzel, who taught me the power of storytelling. She's a motivational speaker, storyteller, and stage 4 cancer survivor. Without her, I don't think I would have my optimistic outlook on life to do things like this in times like this." Let's hope Jeremy and Tori's relationship works out, and that we get to see their romance blossom further.
