Rebel Wilson Shows Off Her Incredible Weight Loss As She Wows At Glamorous Party In LA

On Wednesday, Sept. 29, some of Hollywood’s most prominent stars showed off their stunning looks and fashion sensibilities at the premiere party for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
Actors, actresses and stars in attendance include “Euphoria’s” Sydney Sweeney, “The Batman’s” Robert Pattinson, the Brazilian model Adriana Lima and “Pitch Perfect” actress Rebel Wilson. Wilson, who declared that 2020 would be her “year of health,” looked especially radiant at the event. The Mirror reports that the 41-year-old Australian actress has lost nearly 5 stone (70 pounds) since she embarked on her weight loss journey.
Wilson showed off that transformation in a sparkly black, tightly fitting blazer dress, which highlighted the actress’ figure at the Academy-run event, celebrating the opening of a new museum in the middle of West Hollywood.
As its name suggests, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is run by the same organization that arranges the Oscars each year — and just as the Oscars aim to impress with its glitz and glam, the museum is a sight for sore eyes.
According to Vogue, the museum includes a 33,000-square-foot theater designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, an Art Deco-inspired exhibition space and a striking spherical exterior. The entire project, which the Academy claims is the “largest institution in the United States devoted to exploring the art and science of movies and moviemaking,” costs $482 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.
But, if you can believe it, perhaps even a multimillion-dollar museum can’t upstage Wilson and her undeniable transformation, which she has spoken openly about in the media.

At the end of 2019, Rebel Wilson made a promise to herself; she vowed to make 2020 her "year of health," and to reach her ideal weight of 75 kilograms (around 165 pounds). It would be a year for the Australian actress to prioritize her mental and physical health and commit to achieving her goals. In November 2020, the “Pitch Perfect” actress revealed she had reached her goal — with a whole month to spare! That's an impressive feat.
Wilson, who turned 41 in March, posted an Instagram Story in November 2020 to share the happy news with her followers. She included a photo of the weight displayed on her scales: 74.6 kilograms, or 165 pounds.
According to US Weekly, she wrote:
"Hit my goal with one month to spare. Even though it's not about a weight number, it's about being healthy, I needed a tangible measurement to have as a goal and that was 75kg's."
In another post the star shared in January, Wilson had a few encouraging words for others who might find themselves stumbling on their own health journeys.
"Even if you have to crawl towards your goals, keep going x it will be worth it," she wrote. "Try and give a little bit of effort each day. I know some days are frustrating as hell, you feel like giving up, you get annoyed at the lack of progress … but good things are coming your way."
Wilson, who is known for her no-nonsense, honest approach to life, continued by stating her goals in her post: "I'll be honest with you guys—with my 'Year of Health' mission, I'm trying to get to 75kg's and career-wise, (I) am trying to get one of my movies into production before the end of the year!"

Page Six reported that Wilson addressed the reason for her journey towards better health on an Instagram Live segment, and said that she had her heart set on starting a family.
Her response to a fan asking why she decided to embark on her health journey in 2020 was, "That is such a massive question, but I’m going to try to answer it for you," and added, "It first started when I was looking into fertility stuff and the doctor was like, 'Well, you’d have a much better chance if you were healthier.'"
While Wilson was initially offended by the suggestion that she lose weight, she said that she eventually took on the advice. "That’s kind of what started it, that if I lost some excess weight that it would give me a better chance for freezing eggs and having the eggs be a better quality," the actress said. "It wasn’t even really myself, it was more thinking of a future mini-me, really."
Wilson had previously opened up about the different obstacles she has faced on her fertility journey.
"I started gaining weight when I was about 20," Wilson told E! Online in an interview. "I had something called PCOS -- polycystic ovarian syndrome -- and I gained weight rapidly. It's just a hormone imbalance and you gain a lot of weight usually and that's how it manifested in me."
"Sometimes, I feel sad, but then at the same time, I worked my body to my advantage," she added. "I like being all sizes. It's just now turning 40, I am more health conscious and thinking of starting a family."

Her post was very positively received, and hundreds of women thanked Wilson for her inspiration and for always being open about her journey. One woman wrote, "Rebel, you are a legit inspiration. Thank you for putting yourself out there as always, and especially in this way. Keep going 🔥" Another chimed in, "Thanks for the encouragement, in times like this we need more people that gives hope."
In an interview with People Wilson was candid about the fact that she wasn't always practicing healthy habits. “Before I was probably eating 3,000 calories most days, and because they were normally carbs, I would still be hungry,” the Isn't It Romantic star said. “So, I've really changed to eating a high-protein diet, which is challenging because I didn't used to eat a lot of meat,” she added. “I eat fish, salmon, and chicken breast.”
For many people who are not used to eating meat, a high-protein diet can be a big change. It requires dedication too, of course, which Wilson has shown and has reaped the rewards. However, it may also be a hindrance if one is chained to a diet without allowing any space for flexibility. This midset — one that gives wiggle room to go with the flow — has also been important in Wilson's overall weight loss. She admits that she 'cheats' sometimes, but it isn't anything to punish oneself over.
“It doesn't mean every week is a healthy week,” she said. “Some weeks are just write-offs, and there’s nothing you can do about that.”
"I'm just trying to go for overall balance, overall healthy balance," she said.

“I really took it as time to get really well-rested and de-stress,” she said. “Because most of my stress is work-related." The time off was also a chance for Wilson to rework her mindset about food and change “bad habits to healthier ones.”
Wilson also opened up to Drew Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show about her weight loss process. She first says in the video below, "For the last few years, I've been theme-ing my years. So I had the 'Year of Fun,' last year I had the 'Year of Love,' and this year it's gonna be the 'Year of Health' because I turned 40 this year in March."
She goes on to say, "I never really focused on my health, which was probably obvious. I was going all around the world jet-setting everywhere and eating a ton of sugar. That was kind of my vice. I have a very sweet tooth. I love desserts."
"I have this state of being, which is not my quote, but I go 'Nothing is forbidden.' We’ll be like, 'Should we get In-N-Out burger?' And I'm like, 'Nothing is forbidden.' I can go there, I just might eat half of what I used to eat before. You know? And I'll have a burger, and a few fries, and then you feel fine."
Losing weight is also not easy for many people because external factors can contribute to unhealthy eating habits, which end up becoming a vicious cycle if not addressed early on. For Rebel Wilson, the intensely bright light of fame certainly had a hand in how she coped in unhealthy ways.

While her determination to become healthier by losing weight has been highly successful, she continues to struggle with infertility. At the end of 2020, she went live on Instagram where she talked about how her weight loss journey also factored into her fertility. "I was thinking about fertility and having good quality eggs in the bank, so I was like, 'OK, I'm going to do this, I'm going to get healthy," she said according to CNN.
In the same segment, Wilson also added, "As all good career women out there should know, if that’s something that interests you, it’s a pretty good time to do it," and added, "Getting to [your] forties is kind of even leaving it a little too late. It’s better to do it a bit earlier if you can."
In an Instagram post from May 3, 2021, Wilson posted a photo looking forlorn and added a long caption that alluded to infertility problems. The caption for the photo she uploaded on Instagram read:
"I got some bad news today and didn’t have anyone to share it with...but I guess I gotta tell someone. To all the women out there struggling with fertility, I feel ya. The universe works in mysterious ways and sometimes it all doesn’t make sense...but I hope there’s light about to shine through all the dark clouds."
Though she does not allude to any details about what the "bad news" is, her sadness has clearly come through the photograph and the caption. However, nothing has stopped the star from continuing her journey towards a healthy and happy life.

The star spent the month of November at the VivaMayr health resort in Austria in a move to ensure she reached her goal. The high-end luxury medical resort and wellness center offers a weight-loss plan complete with a custom-tailored nutrition and fitness plan. The actor told People magazine at the time that she had chosen to go back to "boost my immune system and lose my last two kilos.
"I went back because 2021 is going to be an insanely busy year with project after project, so I wanted to come back to VivaMayr," Wilson said.
The resort helps clients reach their fitness goals by following the “Mayr Method,” based on the Mayr cure.
According to Today, followers of the method start with some "light fasting" and a monotonous diet to detox the body. Once the detoxification process is complete, the patients are encouraged to eliminate dairy products and eat foods with high alkaline content, like fish and vegetables.
Alongside the program, Wilson did lots of outdoor hikes and woke up early to fit her workouts. This combination of fitness and diet gave her the final push she needed to reach her goal.
In a touching Instagram post from September 2021 that has fans in awe over her health and wellness achievements, Wilson posed wearing a bright red one-piece swimsuit in front of an idyllic ocean backdrop.
“It’s never too late to improve yourself - to improve your health, your heart, your happiness, your harmony. For everyone out there just trying to be a lil bit better this week: go for it! Every bit counts. Every effort is worth it. You’re worth it,” the inspiring post read.
The weight loss has also reflected changes in her mental health and professional life, as she feels so much more confident in herself, and feels much more control of her life. She has been producing movies and content, which she says is "amazing." She also adds, "Everything seems to be coming together. Maybe I was a late bloomer or something, but I'm slowly getting it together."
Weight loss has certainly been a wonderful process overall for Wilson! Not only has the actress improved her physical health, but her mental health as well! We at apost wish Rebel the best and congratulate her on her incredible journey!
