Rebel Wilson Becomes First-Time Mom At 42 With Daughter Royce

Rebel Wilson has hit a lot of milestones of late. In 2019, the Australian actress vowed to make 2020 her "Year of Health" and reach her ideal weight of 165 lbs. She did just that in November 2020. In June 2022, she took to Instagram to reveal she was in a loving relationship with Lemon Ve Limon founder Ramona Agruma. Now, Wilson has announced that she is moving to the next chapter of her life – motherhood.

Best known for her roles in comedies such as "Pitch Perfect," "Bridesmaids" and "Isn't It Romantic," Wilson has easily captured the hearts and attention of people from all over the world with her charm, wit, and overall funny personality.

Wilson was born on Mar. 2, 1980, in Sydney, Australia. During her younger years, she focused heavily on her studies and went on to pursue a degree in theater and performance studies, graduating in 2009. It was only a short while later that Wilson went on to finally make her mark in the entertainment industry and has since become one of the most beloved actresses.

Since stepping on the Hollywood scene, Wilson has faced constant scrutiny over her appearance. Admitting to the world that she suffers from a hormone imbalance called PCOS, the star has recently showcased a happier version of herself. Wilson's personal health journey was followed by the media and her fans across the world, who were thrilled to see her taking charge and living her best life. But what many may not know is that Wilson's health journey was prompted by the actress's desire to become a mother.

In 2019, Wilson visited a fertility clinic to get an update on her health status. While there, she was told her chances of conceiving would be higher if she were to drop some weight. Wilson told People the doctor's response took her by surprise.

"He looked me up and down and said, 'You'd do much better if you were healthier,'" the actress told the outlet.

"I was taken aback. I thought, 'Oh God, this guy's so rude.' He was right. I was carrying around a lot of excess weight. It's almost like I didn't think of my own needs. I thought of a future child's needs that really inspired me to get healthier."

In her "Year of Health," Wilson managed to lose 80 lbs but said it wasn't just about the scale.

"It wasn't a goal to get to a certain weight," she added to People. "It was just being the healthiest version of myself."

Wilson also saw fulfillment in the love department, sharing a special picture on Instagram in June 2022, also Pride Month. The hilarious actress finally revealed her new love interest, fashion and jewelry designer Agruma. She captioned the sweet picture of them together, "I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince… but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess 💗🌈💗#loveislove." Her fans and the media went wild, expressing their support for the match and describing them as a gorgeous couple. Wilson has even had to fight off rumors she and Agruma were heading down the aisle, writing in an Instagram Story that while she's grateful "for the well-wishes, but we are NOT engaged." 

With health and happiness, there seemed like nothing else Wilson could want right now, but a bundle of joy was just on the horizon.

On Nov. 7, 2022, Wilson happily announced on Instagram that she had welcomed a baby boy. "Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate," the actress wrote. Alongside her heartfelt post was a picture of a newborn looking comfortable and warm in a dusty pink onesie on a shaggy blanket.  

"I can't even describe the love I have for her, she's a beautiful miracle!" she continued, adding, "I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are), this has been years in the making…but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care. Thank you for helping me start my own family, it's an amazing gift. The BEST gift!!"

It's clear Wilson is beyond excited to start on her motherhood journey, saying she was working on getting the hang of things.

"I am ready to give little Roycie all the love imaginable. I am learning quickly…much respect to all the Mums out there! Proud to be in your club," the 42-year-old wrote.

Soon after posting the announcement, Wilson also shared photos from her baby shower via Instagram Story. Wilson revealed to People the shower had been planned by her Agruma, and she "went above and beyond to make it a special day" for her and a close group of friends. With pink and silver decorations, Wilson looked resplendent and joyful as she and her friends celebrated the milestone. Wilson thanked Agruma for being "so amazing and such a great partner" for organizing "the most gorgeous baby shower with friends from around the world."
