Reba McEntire is known as the queen of country music for her huge discography, unique voice and undeniable stage presence. She has had many radio hits over the years and has earned herself a plenitude of awards. Along the way, she has put on some amazing performances and released incredible songs alone and with many other talented artists, including Linda Davis. Davis used to be one of McEntire’s backup singers, which is how McEntire was able to realize just how talented the other singer was. Together, the women released a duet titled “Does He Love You,” which went on to be a commercial and critical success.

McEntire is a singer, songwriter and actress, and she has never failed to impress those around her and her fans when it comes to any career avenue she pursues. With hits like “The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia,” “How Blue” and a revamped version of the song “Fancy,” the singer has shown off her classical country sound and unique voice well over the years. She was also the star of her own sitcom during the 2000s.

Revisiting one of her earliest and most popular duets, McEntire and Davis reunited in 2017 at the Ryman Auditorium for an iconic performance of “Does He Love You.” A fan-shot video of the performance was recorded in February 2017, but it has recently gained new traction as more and more fans have come across the video. A Look At McEntire’s Career

Throughout her career, McEntire has surprised her fans a few times with powerful songs and music videos, as well as a surprise duet every now and then. She even released an entire album full of iconic duets, including “Because Of You” with Kelly Clarkson. The emotional song had previously been released by Clarkson as a soloist, but McEntire added her own flair when she joined a few years later.

Along with her illustrious musical career, McEntire has also proven to be an amazing actress. Her big break as an actress came from her very own TV series titled “Reba,” a sitcom that aired from 2001 until 2007 that earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series — Musical or Comedy. The theme song for the show has recently become a viral hit on TikTok with many fans reminiscing about how much they enjoyed the TV series.

Featuring Davis, McEntire’s song “Does He Love You” acted as the lead single from her album “Greatest Hits Volume Two” in 1993. Throughout the song penned by Sandy Knox and Billy Stritch, McEntire sings as the part of a wife whose husband is cheating on her. Davis sings as the part of the mistress. Together, the women sing to one another about the man that they both love. According to Wide Open Country, McEntire’s record label at the time wanted her to pick a more famous singer to join her on the duet, but after she failed to hear back from Wynonna Judd, she asked Davis to record the song with her.

The Surprising Musical Reunion

McEntire has been known to bring out a surprise guest every now and then during her concerts, including singers such as Trisha Yearwood and Clarkson, and even her own mother and sisters, as per Taste of Country. Yearwood and Clarkson were even featured on McEntire’s album “Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope,” a gospel project from the country music megastar.

While performing at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Feb. 15, 2017, McEntire had a few tricks up her sleeve as she surprised the audience full of country music fans. She brought Davis onstage to join her and sing their hit ballad, “Does He Love You,” for the first time together in years. According to Taste of Country, the song was No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart back in 1993, when the duo first released the duet, and it even went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Collaboration. Taste of Country also reported that “Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart, making her the female to have the most No. 1 debuts in country music history.

At the start of the performance in Nashville, both singers stood on either side of the stage as they began singing along to “Does He Love You.” As the song progressed, they walked across the stage, moving closer to each other as they each showed off their individual singing talents.
