Back in 2002, Reba McEntire did a duet of her song "Does He Love You" on American Idol with Kelly Clarkson, their first performance together. Reba was formerly married to Narvel Blackstock, the father of Kelly's soon-to-be ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

Kelly Clarkson, 38, and Reba McEntire, 65, first performed together during American Idol, which led to the start of a powerful friendship. Before the duet of "Does He Love You" begins, McEntire jests to Kelly saying, "You stole my man. And I'm not happy about that." In 2008, the pair toured North America together on their 2 Worlds 2 Voices Tour. The setlists included several duets and solo performances.

They also recorded the singles Because of You, Softly and Tenderly, and Silent Night together. In 2018, Clarkson performed Fancy when McEntire was honored at the Kennedy Center Honors. According to Pop Culture, Clarkson later told McEntire she is a "beast, a pioneer for women" and not just in the country music industry.

Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock earlier this month, following almost seven years of marriage.

The couple share two children, daughter River Rose, 5, and son Remington Alexander, 4. McEntire was married to Blackstock's father, steel guitar player and manager Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015, making Blackstock her former stepson and Clarkson her former step-daughter-in-law.

Although McEntire and Clarkson are not technically related since McEntire and Narvel are divorced, the two remain close. McEntire even made an appearance on the first season of The Kelly Clarkson Show.

"It's so weird. Because you know when you're friends and family with someone, and you have them on your show, it's awkward," Clarkson told McEntire on the show in September 2019. "I ended up marrying her oldest son and you got stuck with me more."

A source close to the couple spoke to ET and explained that quarantine may have been the final deal-breaker in their marriage. The source said that the couple "had been having problems for several months and were making a conscious effort to work things out. They both hoped quarantining away from L.A. in Montana would help them work things out in their marriage, but instead, the change in environment was actually detrimental."

Furthermore, they added that spending so much time together is what made their situation worse in the end. What a tough situation in an already hard period that we're all going through.
