Realtor Shows Elderly Couple A Home, Wife Bursts Into Tears Minutes Later

When searching for a new home, there is sometimes a feeling you get when the space appears to be exactly what you are looking for. You could call it a spark of intuition or just a feeling, but at that moment, your new home is suddenly right before your eyes, and it can be overwhelming. This is what one woman experienced while on an episode of U.K.'s Channel 4 series "A Place in the Sun," hosted by Ben Hillman.

Jan and Bill went on the show looking for a vacation home in the Costa Blanca region of Spain. The first property Hillman showed them seemed to check off all of their requirements. It was within their budget range of $75,000 to $85,000 and was even close to a golf course. 

The home is a townhouse with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and it is located in Santiago De La Ribera. The location comes with a community pool and is right next to a playground, which makes it perfect for Jan and Bill’s grandchildren as well. 

Just moments after walking through the door of the house, Jan was overcome with emotion. Tears appeared in her eyes, and she was at a loss for words over how perfect the space was for their family. It was as if she had come home for the first time. 

Hillman was overjoyed that Jan and Bill were so thrilled with the property. They went on to view other locations but ended up choosing that first home because nothing else compared to it in their minds. Keep reading to learn more about Jan and Bill’s journey to finding their dream house. 

Jan and Bill couldn’t have been more excited to start house hunting for their vacation home. At the beginning of the episode, Hillman greets the couple and comments on their bubbly personalities. “Jan and Bill welcome to Costa Blanca, you guys kind of just ooze excitement and good energy,” he said. “We do, we have bags of energy to do this," Bill agreed.

Purchasing a holiday home in Spain has been a dream for the couple for many years. Jan explained, “Actually, it was within the first ten minutes of meeting that we’d established we wanted a place in Spain. At the time, we were coming out every school holiday. School finished at 4, and we were at the airport at 6 o’clock.”

Part of the reason for choosing the Costa Blanca area is that Jan used to visit the area with her family when she was growing up. The memories made there are something she wants to share with her children and grandchildren. “My dad was very family orientated — and it was quality time — and that’s what we want to do for both of our families,” Jan said.

After seeing the very first home Hillman presented, Jan burst into tears and said: “It’s really nice. It’s a nice size for the children, I think, too.” 

Once they moved inside the house and began to take a look around, Jan was even more awestruck. She shared, “I can’t speak, sorry, I’m mentally putting where all the furniture is.”

Hillman was excited by her reaction, and Jan explained, “I wouldn’t be doing that if I didn’t feel that this is actually Casa Millie, I can imagine and see us enjoying time with our families."
