The zoo is a magical place for children and adults alike. This special park is home to many exotic animals and keeps guests at a safe distance from their surroundings. But what if it gets too close?

Many visitors did not expect to see a live and rare birth right before their eyes. This luxury started when 12 year old Malindi, a Eastern black rhino did the unexpected. This breed is known to be endangered and visitors already couldn't keep their eyes off of her.

On August 2, Malindi went into labor in full view of the guest, showing no sign of fatigue and distress. This brave and beautiful mother defied the norms of rhinos giving birth during the night and delivered a happy baby.

Only 650 Eastern black rhinos exist in the wild and Malindi added to the population. After 14 minutes, Mama produced a happy and healthy calf in front of a live audience. The little son was born and taken care of in the trusted hands of the caretakers.

In a statement, zoo employees stated that the calf was nursing well and finding its footing. The reports stated the little man was also bonding with his mother in no time. This special birth has brought hope to the zoo and its special population of species.

This exquisite birth raises the endangered population. The Chester Zoo is proud to announce this cutesy calf as a member of their family. Eastern black rhinos have a population of approximately 11 in Chester and this addition is sure to bring a new flock of tourists and animal lovers to the area.

While the population of black rhinos decreases, the Chester Zoo will see more visitors to the new arrival. Rhinos are targeted to poachers and illegal trade all around the globe.
