In a viral video from August 2012, a young woman who was given the nickname “Random Girl” by the internet brought down the house with her stunning rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” That girl’s real name is Zendee Rose Japitana Tenerefe, but now she goes by the moniker Zendee. She is from General Santos, Philippines.

Zendee had already participated in a few music competitions in the Philippines at the time the video was recorded, including the “X-Factor Philippines.” This experience trained her voice but did not make her into the star she is now. In the video, however, she looks just like any other young person at a shopping mall with her black t-shirt and bright red backpack. But when she begins to sing, everyone is transported somewhere else by her incredible talent.

The video of Zendee singing has over 20 million views on YouTube, and viewers from all over the world cannot stop raving about how impressive her performance was. In the video, you can see that Zendee is singing at one of many public karaoke machines, which are often left open for shoppers to try in the Philippines.

This performance is what helped launch Zendee into stardom. After the video of her singing gained so much popularity, she was invited onto multiple television programs in the Philippines and even “The Ellen Degeneres Show” in America, where she gave interviews and performed. This further exposure helped Zendee land a record deal with Warner Music Philippines and she released her debut album “I Believe” in 2013.

Zendee was born on June 21, 1991, making her around 30 years old. Since the video of her singing went viral, she has maintained a successful career in the Philippines and still actively engages with her fans through her Instagram account.

On her account, she posts many pictures of herself with inspiring captions, such as, “Invest in your dreams. Grind now. Shine later” and “Surround yourself with people whose dreams are as big as yours.” These mantras give the singer a relaxed and “go with the flow” type of persona that makes her seem likable and grounded.

The artist also supports meaningful causes that support women. “Women, it’s time for us to throw these beauty definitions society has imposed on us – and redefine our own beauty standards! You don’t have to listen to anyone but yourself; take charge, own your beauty, and command it,” she wrote in one of her posts.

Zendee has the temperament and talent to go far in the music industry, but she still owes a lot to the video of her singing “I Will Always Love You.” Fans of the singer will never forget that special moment when she began the song and floored everyone nearby with her beautiful and powerful voice. The song is not easy to sing, but Zendee makes it look effortless.

Fans who viewed the video since 2012 have stopped to leave over 23,000 comments reacting to Zendee’s performance. One person commented on the video and said, “I love how she made the song her own and didn’t try to imitate Whitney. Her voice is beautiful.” The song was originally written by Dolly Parton but was made popular by Whitney Houston and the 1992 film “The Bodyguard.”
