If you love animals, the idea of being surrounded by a cute raccoon family may remind you of a tall tale.

You might be the kind of person who could spend the day tending to the forest’s creatures. Or maybe you don’t see raccoons in a romantic light. But, here’s a story about a guy from Upstate New York with a crazy tale to tell.

The Story

Eddy Lawrence claims he is the pied piper of the raccoons living in the wild forests of New York. Eddy just learned to play a flute the Native Americans played. He has been a singer and songwriter for quite a time. That’s why he took the flute out to play for the wildlife.

He was standing in a path in the middle of the woods, and there was no critters in sight. According to Inside Edition , he was performing a Native tune named “Raccoon Dance.”

How Would You Feel If Raccoons Surrounded You?

Playing the tune literally drew the raccoons out of the woodwork. You’ll see in this video how they came running to see him.

Here’s the Facebook Video.

This was posted September 20th and it's been seen worldwide by almost a million people!

“They didn’t dance but they came around to see what was going on,” Eddy said.

Some think it was how the flute made calm and gentle tunes. This might have caused them to come running out of the woods to see what's up.

Mr. Lawrence believes the raccoons also came out because the tune was so mellow. This gave the raccoons confidence that everything was safe.

He has only played the flute for a month so far he also said. Lawrence still sees himself as a beginner. The Facebook viewers have had very different responses to the video. Now some fantasize about doing the same and living among the wild raccoons!

One user proudly declared that this is the life they want too. Some think this is pure insanity and have no desire to be surrounded by raccoons. The reason is that raccoons can be very violent and pushy for food. You can find many crazy videos of that too.

Another user compared the raccoons to Pavlov’s dogs for the way they came running. (Pavlov trained dogs to think of being fed every time he rang a bell.) Other users marveled at how huge the raccoons were. They definitely aren't the kind you see in the suburbs. Maybe flute players might put pest control out of business one day.
