Queen Re-Evaluates Harry And Meghan's Rights To Use 'Sussex Royal' Brand

After spending tens of thousands of British pounds on a new 'Sussex Royal' website and Instagram account, the Queen and senior officials decided to review the couple's rights to use 'Sussex Royal' after retracting their royal duties in 'Megxit.'
After seeking to register 'Sussex Royal' as a global trademark, the Queen and senior palace officials discussed that the couple will likely not be able to use the 'Sussex Royal' name after leaving the royal family through Megxit. Harry and Meghan attempted to register Sussex Royal as a trademark for a wide range of items including, clothing, books, teaching materials, and stationery.

A royal source said to Daily Express royal correspondent Richard Palmer:
“As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are stepping back as senior members of the Royal Family and will work towards financial independence, use of the word ‘Royal’, in this context, needed to be reviewed. Discussions are still ongoing.”
Harry and Meghan had hoped to use the name for their charity organization, "Sussex Royal, The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex," but because of their new working arrangements, it is understood that they will not be able to use the royal branding as they had hoped.

Harry and Meghan began to use the Sussex royal brand last year, not shortly after splitting their household away from that of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, or Kensington Royal. However, since Harry and Meghan have had their own Instagram account, it has collected just as many followers as William and Kate's account.
The Sussex Royal website launched last month with the introduction:
"Welcome to the Sussex Royal community, your source for information on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex."
The couple's decision to step down as senior working royals and pursue their own financial independence has led them to plan to move to Canada. Despite the move, they have applied to brand everything from bandanas to notebooks to their charity under the Sussex Royal name. The charity was due to be launched this year with the support of Buckingham Palace, but now it seems that everything is up for re-evaluation.

Despite the Queen allowing Harry and Meghan to pursue a new life without official appointments and patronages, it was made clear between the Queen, officials, and the couple that the Sussex Royal use would come into question. Because they are no longer carrying out official duties, but rather other commercial opportunities, it could be implied that the couple wouldn't be allowed to market themselves as royals.
