Queen Elizabeth II will be celebrating her 70-year reign the first week of June 2022, although the true anniversary was back on Feb. 6, 2022. The Platinum Jubilee is to take place over a four-day bank holiday and citizens are encouraged to partake in several celebratory events.
The Queen is the country's longest-reigning monarch, making the Platinum Jubilee the first-ever in history. The palace has chosen to celebrate in June rather than February in the hope of better weather. The four-day bank holiday will begin Thursday, June 2, 2022. The Trooping of Colour is planned for that day and it is also the day the Platinum Jubilee beacons will be lit across the UK.
On Friday the 3rd of June, there will be a Service of Thanksgiving for the Queen's reign held at St Paul's Cathedral. Earlier in the day on Saturday, the Queen will attend the Derby at Epsom Downs and that evening is when the Platinum Party will take place at Buckingham Palace. The event is being put on by both the palace and the BBC.
June 4 will also mark the first birthday of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter Lilibet. The Queen’s 12th great-grandchild was born on June 4, 2021, in Santa Monica, California. The Queen has yet to meet her youngest great-grandchild, and has actually only seen Lilibet through virtual means of communication. However, that could change at the Platinum Jubilee as Harry and Meghan are reportedly expected to be in attendance, and could very well be bringing their two children.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex first announced that they were expecting their second child on Valentine's Day in 2021, only to reveal the baby's sex during the March 2021 interview special "Oprah with Meghan and Harry."
For months before the announcement of the birth, people across the world wondered if Harry would choose to pay tribute to his mother and grandmother with the birth of his daughter. Royal watchers had previously predicted that Harry and Meghan would choose to honor both the Queen and the late Prince Philip by picking a meaningful name for their daughter according to Express UK.
Meghan and Harry's daughter will become a princess if Prince Charles becomes king, as grandchildren of the king are automatically granted prince and princess status, according to Elle.
Naturally, the royal family was extremely thrilled to have a new baby to love, especially considering the fact that Lilibet is the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild. It’s a huge feat in and of itself, so it comes as no surprise that the Queen was very interested to meet the newest addition to her family.
However, Her Majesty has yet to formally meet Lilibet in person due to many outside circumstances. As PEOPLE magazine was told by a source close to the couple, the queen was the first to meet little Lili via a video call. PEOPLE had already reported beforehand that the Queen had known Harry and Meghan wanted to pass her nickname down to their daughter.
While the Platinum Jubilee is already set to be an exciting celebration, it could be even more eventful than people expected as Harry and Meghan could potentially bring their kids, Archie and Lilibet.

Back in April 2022, Harry spoke with TODAY about how he still wasn’t sure if he would be able to go to the Platinum Jubilee as there was much to take into consideration, including “security.” He said, “I’m trying to make it possible.”
According to Tatler, iit seems that the Duke of Sussex was able to get everything in line, as it's reported that Harry’s attendance at the Platinum Jubilee has been confirmed. His wife is also set to be in attendance alongside him, joining the Queen for the Platinum Jubilee Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul’s Cathedral on June, 3, 2022. The couple will not be attending the annual Trooping the Colour though.
Tatler reported that those expected to be at the Platinum Jubilee and the Trooping the Colour include Charles and Camila, the Princess Royal and Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three kids, and the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their children.
Another event that will take place during the long weekend of celebration is the Platinum Pudding Competition, which was launched in 2021 and is dedicated to bakers creating desserts inspired by Her Majesty.
The most memorable moment of all, though, could be if Harry and Meghan choose to bring their little ones. According to Yahoo, a spokesperson for the Sussex family stated:
“Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are excited and honored to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration this June with their children.”
