Queen Elizabeth Wishes Meghan Markle Happy Birthday With Moving Picture Montage

Aug 04, 2021 by apost team

Meghan Markle celebrates her milestone 40th birthday today and well wishes have come from all over, including Queen Elizabeth II herself. The official royal family Twitter account posted a touching message for the occasion, alongside a picture montage of the Duchess of Sussex.

In one photo, she and the queen are pictured at a joint royal engagement they carried out in the summer of 2018, while another depicts the duchess, Prince Harry, and baby Archie from their trip to South Africa when they visited Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The last picture is of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex smiling during one of their last official royal engagements from March 2020.

Many Twitter users commented positively on the post as they wrote how classy it was of the queen and the royal family to share such a gracious birthday post for Markle.

The Duchess of Sussex has had a momentous year since her 39th birthday. After moving to their Montecito, California home months before her 2020 birthday, the Sussexes announced major multimillion-dollar deals with Spotify, Netflix, and more, while in March of this year they gave their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Since then, they welcomed their first daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor on June 4, followed by the release of Markle's first children's book, "The Bench." Meanwhile, Harry has executive produced a series about mental health with Winfrey, titled "The Me You Can't See" and announced an upcoming memoir, to be released next year. Weeks ago, Markle revealed her latest project, "Pearl," an animated series about a 12-year-old girl which will be released on Netflix.

After the incredible year she's had, Meghan Markle is topping it all off by turning 40 today on Wednesday, Aug. 4. After quietly celebrating each of her birthdays in her late 30s, it's unclear how exactly Markle will celebrate, but considering all that she and Prince Harry have achieved in the last year, the duchess will surely want to ring in her new decade of life in style.

After it was reported that she would be having a small party planned by Oprah Winfrey's go-to party planner, Colin Cowie, Page Six reported that a source close to the couple stated that it was "absolutely not happening." Instead, the Sussexes are expected to keep things quiet as they are still on parental leave after welcoming their first daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor in June.

Contributing to her birthday well wishes is a touching message from Queen Elizabeth herself. Posted to the official royal family Twitter account, the message reads:

"Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very Happy Birthday today!"

Accompanying the message are three gorgeous photos of Markle — one in which she's smiling widely as she stands beside the queen; one of her, Prince Harry, and Archie, from their trip to Africa in 2019; and a more recent one of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex smiling widely from one of their last royal engagements in March 2020.

Fans commented on the post, noting how classy it was for the royal family to wish Markle a happy birthday. One commenter wrote, "Touch of class," while another added, "Very gracious of you."

The queen wasn't the only member of the royal family to wish Markle a happy birthday. Congratulations also came from Prince William and Kate Middleton, who posted to Twitter with the message, "Wishing a happy 40th birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!" They included a photo of Markle from her and Harry's Oct. 2018 trip to Australia, in which she's sitting on the sand at Bondi Beach with a smile on her face.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall also wished Markle a happy birthday on their Twitter account. Alongside a gorgeous picture of the duchess smiling, which is from a roundtable discussion on gender equality from Oct. 2019, the future king and his wife wrote: "Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday."

The birthday wishes from many members of the royal family show that despite the tensions that have been reported in the royal family of late, civility is still of the utmost importance. Although the public doesn't know exactly how Markle will be spending her day, it's likely that the messages from the fellow royals will mean a lot to her and Harry.

Supporters of the couple, who have been dubbed the Sussex Squad, have come together to raise money for an organization that Markle feels passionately about — the Myna Mahila Foundation, which supports girls in India through menstruation. They've managed to raise over £33,000 ($46,000) so far. Ahead of Markle's 39th birthday last year, the Sussex Squad raised around £39,500 ($55,000) for Camfed, an African education charity.
