Queen Elizabeth Will Undergo Seven Wardrobe Changes For Her Royal Christmas Engagements

Christmas is often a time of juggling social engagements, relaxation, and enjoyment. This is no different for Queen Elizabeth, who has to balance the many duties she attends over the festive season, with spending some quality time with her growing family.

Her Majesty, who goes to various and functions and events across the UK over the Christmas period, doesn't like to just stick to one set of clothes, she likes to have many outfit changes so she is constantly displaying a fresh new look.

For formal events, such as visiting the Royal Albert Hall, or a family dinner, she will opt for something opulent and classic, whilst when out walking in the woodlands with her dogs she will wear casual all-weather, warm clothing. She makes sure eveything she dons is appropropriate for the occasion.

Her Majesty spends her Christmas at her Sandringham residence in Norfolk, which doesn't mean she gets to clock out. According to Angela Kelly, her longtime dresser and confidante who has written a new book, The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe, the Queen is just as busy as she would be in London, with more guests to entertain.

Angela, who has been the Queen's personal dresser since 2002, told People:

“There may be several outfit changes in one day — it could be as many as five or even up to seven. Once Her Majesty has chosen her dress for dinner, a handwritten notice is pinned up in the Dressers’ Corridor detailing what she will be wearing, so that the Queen’s ladies’ maids can select an appropriate dress for the lady they are looking after.”

This ensures that there are no clashes with similar outfits other guests may be wearing. Dressing up for Christmas dinner is a tradition the royal family has continued which was started by the Queen Mother. It is an important day for them, and not just because they get to wear their most special pieces.
