Queen Elizabeth hosted her final garden party of this year in Edinburgh on July 3rd. The event is traditionally part of Holyrood Week, a week-long visit by the Queen to Scotland each year.

The event is the last of four Garden summer parties that are traditionally hosted by the monarch each summer. The first three are held in London and the last one in Edinburgh at during the annual Holyrood Week. The event, which took place at the Palace of Holyroodhouse last Wednesday, hosted roughly 10,000 guests of which many work in the public service. Other members of the royal family including Prince Andrew, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward also attended this year.

This year, Queen Elizabeth sported a bright coral pink suit & headpiece along with a pair of elegant white gloves for the occasion. The weather that day blessed the attendees with lots of sunshine and clear blue skies. Familiar with the UK weather, however, Her Majesty was spotted holding a clear umbrella just in case.

The event featured music by the Royal Scottish Pipers society as well as regimental bands. As since 1822, the monarch was guarded by the Royal Company of Archers at the event.

During the party, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh randomly walk in ‘lanes’ in order to greet as many guests as possible before ending up in the Royal Tea Tent, where she greets more guests.
