The Queen's statement regarding Meghan and Harry read: "Following many months of conversations and more recent discussions, I am pleased that together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family."
"Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family. I recognise the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life."

The "intense scrutiny" the Queen is referring to is the harassment Meghan and Harry have received in the media. Mehgan has faced unfair scrutiny from the English press which has led she and her husband to take legal action against certain tabloids stated on their official website. She expressed gratitude towards a reporter’s concern during she and Harry's documentary "Harry & Meghan: An African Journey."
“Thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I’m okay, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
The Queen said that she is fully supportive of Meghan and Harry's decision to leave the royal family however she has made it clear they will no longer have their titles. "The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family," the statement read.
Although their titles have been stripped Meghan and Harry are still able to maintain their private patronages and associations, however, they cannot formally represent the Queen.
The decision for Harry and Meghan to step back had critics calling for them to payback the renovations spent on the crown's property- Frogmore Cottage- as the couple will no longer be performing royal duties.
The Royal Household released figures last year that showed how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had spent £2.4 million (Equivalent to about $3 Million) on renovating the Frogmore Cottage at Windsor into a family home. The cottage had previously been 5 separate residences but the renovations conjoined the homes into one single property.
In the Queen's statement, she shared how it was Meghan and Harry's "wish" that they "repay the Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home."
In the final sentences of the Queen's statement, she commended Meghan on how easily she became part of the royal family. "I want to thank them for all their dedicated work across this country, the Commonwealth and beyond, and am particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family," Her Majesty said.
"It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life."
