The royal family is celebrating one of their own this week, as Princess Eugenie turned 30 on March 23.

To honor her, the royal family Instagram account posted a sweet photo of the princess with her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, that was taken last year. In the photo, Eugenie is smiling warmly at her grandma, with the affection they share very evident.

Captioning the photo, the royal family Instagram page writes:

"Wishing Princess Eugenie a very Happy Birthday! Her Royal Highness is The Queen's 6th grandchild. Today she turns 30. This photo was taken in 2019 when The Princess joined her grandmother at a Maundy Thursday Service at St George's Chapel in Windsor."

Almost one year ago to the day, the service is held in early spring, which perhaps both the Queen and Eugenie are giving a nod to through their springlike outfits. In the accompanying photo, Eugenie can be seen wearing a floral print Erdem dress, while the Queen looks lovely in a soft yellow. It's clear from the way Eugenie is beaming at her grandma that they share a special bond. She's known to affectionately call her "granny" and often speaks about her publicly.

She's also known to talk about her summer trips to stay with her grandparents during the summer break at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, the Queen's summer residence. Having spoken fondly of her time there, Eugenie has previously discussed how they go on walks together, have picnics, and spend a lot of time with all of the dogs that are there in the Highlands.

Now at 30, Princess Eugenie has grown up to be quite a lovely lady. Less than two years ago she married her long-term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank in a ceremony at St George's Chapel in Windsor in October 2018. For the ceremony she wore a stunning long-sleeve gown designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos. Princess Eugenie was the first British princess of royal blood to marry in the Church of England since the wedding of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips, 45 years earlier.

The youngest daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah Ferguson, Eugenie is tenth-in-line to the throne, coming after her older sister Princess Beatrice. She is not a working royal like other members of the family, and instead holds a full-time job as a director at contemporary art gallery Hauser & Wirth in London.

Although the royals seem to live in a different world than regular people, at heart they are just like you and I. It's great to see Eugenie leading a normal life that includes working like everyone else and to witness her special bond with her grandparents, especially her grandmother, the queen.
