Queen Elizabeth II To Make Exciting Changes To Windsor Castle
Nov 15, 2021 by apost team
Queen Elizabeth II is the reigning monarch of England, and nothing has so far stopped her from carrying out all of her royal duties, no matter what circumstances were thrown her way. Despite such a difficult past year for the royal family, the queen has continued to go above and beyond to carry out all of her responsibilities and see over all of the members of the royal family.
She went through her unfortunate share of hardships during 2021, as her longtime husband, Prince Philip, passed away, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their official publicized departure from the family. With the couple's departure, Harry and Meghan's duties as active members of the royal family were forced to be redistributed to other members, with the queen making all the big decisions and having the final say.
It's safe to say that the queen has had to deal with several overwhelming emotions throughout the past few months, and it seems as if health problems are now adding to her already significant burden. While she was recently still up and about and holding strong despite needing to use a cane, the queen canceled her appearance at the Remembrance Day Service at the Cenotaph on November 14, 2021.
Remembrance Day is an important British memorial day first established after the First World War. It is meant to honor all those soldiers and servicemen and women who have died in the line of duty and remains an important event in Britain until this day. Part of the Remembrance Day Service is the traditional vigil at the Cenotaph, which includes the laying of wreaths by politicians and the royal family.
With Christmas around the corner, Elizabeth has exciting changes planned for Windsor Castle.

As with every year, Windsor Castle will be getting a beautiful display for the festive Christmas season. Due to the pandemic in 2020, the usual pomp and celebration surrounding Christmas were eschewed for a toned-down version. However, this did not mean that there was no grandeur to the royal Christmas last year.
Town & Country Mag reported that Windsor Castle was ornately decorated with Christmas trees, twinkle lights, and festive garlands, and the centerpiece of the castle's Christmas decor was a magnificent 20-foot-high Norway spruce tree which was sourced from Windsor Great Park. The tree was displayed in St. George's Hall, the largest room in the castle, and 3,000 lights and hundreds of iridescent ornaments were used to bring in the Christmas cheer.
This year seems to be bringing in more good cheer as Windsor Castle once again prepares for festivities that will be less encumbered by the pandemic. According to the Royal Collection Trust, starting from November 25, 2021, people can "experience a fairytale Christmas at Windsor Castle. The festive display includes a magnificent centrepiece, the 6 metre (20-foot) high tree in St George's Hall, taken from Windsor Great Park and dressed with hundreds of twinkling lights and ornaments."
Moreover, the website also stated that "a special pantomime display will show costumes worn by The Queen (then Princess Elizabeth) and her sister, Princess Margaret as teenagers performing in annual pantomimes at Windsor Castle between 1941-44. The costumes will be on display in the Waterloo Chamber, where the pantomime pictures decorate the walls of the room."
Windsor Castle is certainly in for some exciting changes soon!

This Christmas season may be a difficult one for the queen as it will be the first time that she will be without her husband by her side. Elizabeth and the late Philip broke tradition in 2020 and did not host Christmas at Sandringham as they always did due to the pandemic. Instead, they celebrated "quietly" at Windsor Castle for the first time in 33 years away from their family last year according to Town & Country Mag.
After Philip's passing in April 2021, Elizabeth has been steadfast and dignified as she has continued to take part in important events, but it is likely to be a painful festive season nonetheless without her husband for the first time in over seven decades.
Recently, Elizabeth has also been having health issues. According to reports coming out of Buckingham Palace, Elizabeth spent a night at the hospital, where she was admitted overnight for “practical reasons.”
"Following medical advice to rest for a few days, the Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits,” Thursday's statement read, according to the BBC. This led to her trip to Northern Ireland being canceled at the end of October 2021.
Elizabeth's health issues also did not allow her to make it to this year's Remembrance Day Service at the Cenotaph. In a message sent to news outlets across the country, Buckingham Palace officials announced, "The Queen, having sprained her back, has decided this morning with great regret that she will not be able to attend today's Remembrance Sunday Service at the Cenotaph. Her Majesty is disappointed that she will miss the service."
We hope that the queen feels better soon to celebrate the festive season.
