Queen Elizabeth II Has ‘Big’ Plans To Celebrate Prince William’s 40th Birthday

Jun 02, 2022 by apost team

Queen Elizabeth II has been the reigning monarch for an astonishing 70 years, with her reign first beginning in February 1952 and her coronation having occurred in June 1953. The queen is currently the longest-lived and longest-reigning monarch in British history, as well as the oldest living and longest-reigning current monarch. Her support for the monarchy has remained high, as has her personal popularity as Queen.

Her Majesty has been busy preparing for her Platinum Jubilee, which will be the first ever in history, as the Queen has held her reign as monarch for so long. While this event in and of itself is already a huge milestone, there is a sweet added factor that also takes place during the same time. The birthday of the Queen’s youngest great-granddaughter Lilibet, daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, falls during the Platinum Jubilee celebration.

Another important birthday occurring in June is Prince William’s. He was born on June 21, 1982, meaning his upcoming birthday will be his 40th! It’s a huge milestone and commemorative moment for the Duke of Cambridge and everyone in the royal family, so it’s only fitting that something spectacular is planned.

While not too many details of William’s birthday plans have been revealed as of yet, the Queen is sure to showcase her love and fondness for her grandson. On top of that, William is being honored in a noble way that many other royals have in the past by receiving a coin with his face on it. Read on to find out more about the Queen’s plans for William’s 40th birthday.

Back in 2021, for William’s 39th birthday, many members of the royal family shared joyful messages, wishing the Duke of Cambridge a happy birthday. The Queen was one of the first to send her well wishes to William, as they were posted to the official royal family Twitter account along with a series of images of the future king.

One photo highlighted William’s family life as he was with his wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children at 2019’s Trooping the Colour event, while another showed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge laughing together.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also posted two photos in honor of William. The first was a black and white throwback photo from 1982 to when William was a baby, where he was pictured on his father’s lap. The other photo was much more recent and showed William smiling and laughing alongside his father and Camilla.

William was extremely grateful for all the love he received from his family on his special day, and also all the well wishes from fans all over the world. He went to Twitter to say, “Thank you for all the birthday wishes and kind messages.”

In May 2022, PEOPLE reported that William was receiving an early 40th birthday present. His upcoming birthday will be commemorated with a £5 coin in the United Kingdom designed by engraver Thomas T. Docherty for The Royal Mint. The coin will show William’s three-quarter profile looking up to the top right with a number 40 on the left side and a W on the right.

This isn’t the only time William has been featured on a coin, as PEOPLE reported that he and Kate were both on one together back in 2011 for the royal wedding celebration.

According to The Royal Mint, the Queen will also be featured on plenty of coins in celebration of her Platinum Jubilee. The coin-making company unveiled its largest coin collection with this release, with designs depicting the Queen’s love for horses as well as stunning portraits of Her Majesty.

William and the Queen are expected to be spending plenty of time together in June 2022 due to the Platinum Jubilee. William has already begun taking on some responsibilities, as he already hosted a garden party in May 2022, and the final Buckingham Palace Garden Party is set to take place on June 29, 2022, as per Town & Country.

In an Instagram post from May 2022, the royal family explained that William will have a huge role in the Trooping the Colour event. The post read:

“The Duke of Cambridge, in his role as Colonel of the @irishguards, took the salute at the Colonel’s Review – the last rehearsal ahead of Trooping the Colour. On Thursday 2 June, The Queen’s #PlatinumJubilee Celebration Weekend will get underway with this display of military precision, horsemanship and fanfare.”

If all that wasn’t enough, there is still more in store for William regarding the Platinum Jubilee and his upcoming 40th birthday. According to Yahoo, Christopher Anderson, author of “Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan” shared that the Queen has something in store for the Duke of Cambridge’s milestone birthday.

“The Queen has a big thing planned for (William) and he is going to throw something as well,” Anderson said. He also said there are plans for parties as long as everything goes accordingly.
