Queen Elizabeth II Gives President Trump Toast During Royal Visit

President Trump recently visited the U.K. and was received by the royal family as per tradition. ET reports that the schedule included a state dinner at Buckingham Palace attended by the Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker-Bowles, among other royal guests as well as Prime Minister Theresa May in her last days in office.

Kate Middleton wore a stunning white gown and was adorned with royal jewels and a blue sash. Her tiara was a stunning piece to complete the ensemble. Camilla and Melania seemed to have gotten the memo about the color choice and they too were dressed in white.

Once the guests had entered the banquet room, the queen made a speech that emphasized the special relationship between the United Kingdom and United States saying, “I am so glad that we have another opportunity to demonstrate the immense importance that both our countries attach to our relationship.”

She went on to commemorate the veterans of both countries as it is the 75th anniversary of the 1944 D-Day invasion, and emphasize the importance of peace. She cited the cultural and heritage links between the two as well as the fact that they are large investors in each other’s economies. The Queen’s wise words were overshadowed by a breach in protocol.

Protocol prohibits anybody touching the Queen and it is unclear whether or not President Trump patted the Queen on her back. Watch the video below to hear Queen Elizabeth’s stirring speech and to see the moment yourself.
