Queen Elizabeth just released a statement regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departure as senior royals, saying she along with the rest of the Royal family are “completely supportive” of their decision.
“My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family,” the statement reads. “Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”

The statement also confirmed what many have speculated thus far, that Markle and her husband will be splitting their time between the United Kingdom and Canada.
“Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.
“It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.”
Queen Elizabeth invited Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry to her country home on Monday to discuss the details of the Duke and Duchess’ departure as senior royals, with Markle reportedly joining in via telephone from Vancouver.
The decision comes after a shocking statement by the Sussexes last Wednesday. The statement, which was published on their official Instagram account, explained that the couple would be “stepping back” as senior royals while working on becoming “financially independent” and splitting their time between North America and the UK.
