Queen Elizabeth And Princess Eugenie Have Reportedly Watched ‘The Crown’

With the third season of The Crown dropping on Netflix this weekend, loyal fans of the show are finally getting their fix after almost a year of waiting. 

Some can’t help but wonder, however, if members of the British Royal family also enjoy the show. According to reports, some members including the Queen herself have watched The Crown and even have some opinions.

According to Hello Magazine, Princess Eugenie has nothing but good things to say about the show. In 2017, the Princess told the audience at the China Exchange in London that she felt “proud” when she watched it.

"I did watch a couple of episodes of The Crown. It is filmed beautifully,” said Princess Eugenie. “The music is wonderful, the story is beautiful. You feel very proud to watch it. I can’t speak for everyone but that’s how I felt when I watched it."

As the monarch of the British Empire, you’d think the Queen has little time to spend binge-watching Netflix shows. According to the Express, however, the 93-year-old was talked into watching the show by her son Prince Edward and his wife, who are die-hard fans. 

The publication claims that although she thought the dramatization of events in the show was a little over the top, Queen Elizabeth nevertheless finds the show entertaining. She was, however, reportedly disappointed with the harsh depiction of her husband Prince Phillip in season 2. 

On a recent appearance on the Graham Norton show, Olivia Coleman (who portrays the Queen in season three) revealed she once had an awkward moment with Prince William when discussing The Crown. 

“He asked what I was doing at the moment before he quickly added, ‘Actually, I know what you’re doing,’” Coleman said, according to People. “I was so excited and asked, ‘Have you watched it?’ His answer was a firm, ‘No.’ But he was very charming and very lovely.”
