Adam Lambert and the iconic band Queen paid tribute to Freddie Mercury for a concert in L.A. this past weekend. Lambert was joined by original members Brian May and Roger Taylor as they rocked a 30-song set for their The Rhapsody Tour. Although the music has a flair all on its own, Lambert made sure not to disappoint the crowd with his outfits.
The Oscar-winning film, “Bohemian Rhapsody” came out in 2018 which delved into the late lead singer, Freddie Mercury’s life. The vocalist died in 1991 a day after he announced to the public he had aids, according to Queen’s website. Since 2012 the remaining members of the band have had a profitable collaboration with singer/songwriter Adam Lambert.

Lambert rose to fame on the hit show “American Idol”. Although he finished in second place, it launched his musical career. After a Grammy nomination and several successful albums, Lambert has been touring alongside Queen. During his “American Idol” days he was likened to the late Freddie Mercury according to Biography Magazine.
Lambert, however, made sure the audience knew that he was not trying to replace the singer this weekend in California. I am not Freddie Mercury. I f***ing know because there will only be one Freddie Mercury. There’s no replacing him,” Lambert said according to Billboard. “All I’m here to do tonight is celebrate Freddie and carry the torch for Freddie. And I hope I’m making him proud.”
Billboard reported the collab launched into Queen classics like “Somebody to Love,” “Don’t Stop Me Now,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and many others. Mercury himself made an appearance on the big screen as he made his famous “Ay-oh” chant which prompts the audience to respond. Afterward, Lambert came out in an outrageous King’s jacket and bejeweled crown with big heels to finish the show with “We Are The Champions.”
