The term "New York minute" refers to the fast pace of people living and working in the city. They don't always move so fast by choice.

While the exhilarating pace of New York City brings excitement to people's lives, it also delivers a great deal of stress. Too much pressure isn't suitable for anyone, so finding a release makes sense.

There's now a unique way to deal with stress in NYC. Go hit a public punching bag and feel good. City Hall isn't behind the public punching bags appearing at select locations in New York. A design studio contributed to the idea. Not everyone knows who put the punching bags in place, so the designers don't get their deserved credit. They don't seem to be seeking praise, though.

The plan here is to do a good deed by encouraging people to lash out. The good part involves striking and lashing at a punching bag. Hitting people, of course, would be a brutal display of aggressive violence. Punching a cushioned bag is undoubtedly more acceptable.

The bags do come with an intriguing note. Words display the sentiment that a small amount of stress and frustration is normal. Letting stress and frustration go through an outlet is a normal way to deal with both. Public punching bags do come off as an atypical way to address an anxious state of mind to be sure.

Hopefully, anyone who chooses to strike a punching bag took an introductory boxing lesson first. Failure to hit a punching bag the right way can lead to an injured hand. Relieving stress is fine, but suffering an injury isn't!

You don't need to live in New York City to hit a punching bag. You can put one in your home. So can your friends. Tell them about the public punching bags in New York. Maybe they'll go to a sporting goods store and pick one up.
