Public Asks If Cindy Crawford Is Too ‘Old’ To Post Bikini Pics

Cindy Crawford is one of the original 1990s supermodels and not only does her legacy live on today, but she's actually still modeling! While her star will never wane, Crawford's daughter Kaia Gerber has taken the modeling world by storm in recent years, proving that beauty and modeling talent really does run in the family. What's more, Kaia is the spitting image of her mother in her heyday!
Crawford was born on Feb. 20, 1966, in DeKalb, Illinois. While most people recognize her for being one of the most iconic supermodels of all time, she has a long list of many other talents. Crawford is also recognized for her work as an actress as well as an overall television personality figure.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Crawford was one of the most popular supermodels, gracing the covers of prestigious magazines and strutting down runways for a handful of designers. On top of that, she found plenty of work in major fashion campaigns. Today, she is still a working model and has also even started to branch out into business ventures.
While there’s no denying Crawford's beauty, we, unfortunately, live in a society where people can be judgmental at times. Crawford is now 56 years old and some people have argued that she might be too old to be wearing a bikini. However, that hasn’t stopped this model from living out all of her dreams and continuing to live her most authentic life.
Read on to find out more about Crawford's career over the years and what her life looks like today.

Crawford grew up in Illinois with her father Dan, her mother Jennifer Sue, and her sisters Chris and Danielle. Her brother Jeffrey sadly passed away from childhood leukemia when he was just 3 years old.
Modeling was something that seemed to always be a passion for Crawford. During high school, she was hired by a local clothing store to work for them and be included in a fashion photoshoot. She was also photographed by other local photographers and began appearing on small magazine covers. This proved to be a very substantial turning point for Crawford as she started receiving plenty of positive feedback about her photoshoots and her modeling talent.
From this point on, Crawford knew that not being a model wasn’t an option. It wasn’t long before she began working with a small modeling agency that ended up being sold to Elite Model Management – one of the top chain modeling agencies to exist.
The company first started in the fashionable city of Paris, France back in 1972 before branching out to new locations in cities all over the world, including New York, Los Angeles, Miami, London and Toronto. The agency has signed some of the best models in the industry, including Gisele Bundchen, Alessandra Ambrosio, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista.
In 1983, Crawford entered the Elite Look of the Year contest and made it all the way to the national finals. She was only 17 years old at the time and proved to be a real force in the world of modeling and the fashion industry itself.

Crawford's face began being seen by people from all over the world. She appeared in the opening credits of the film “The Secret of My Success” in 1987 and was also on the cover of British Vogue in January of 1990. In the years to follow, she appeared on the cover of plenty of other magazines, including Vogue, PEOPLE, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Allure and Cosmopolitan. In 2015, she was featured in the music video for Taylor Swift’s song “Bad Blood” alongside fellow models Lily Aldrige, Cara Delevigne, Gigi Hadid, Martha Hunt and Karlie Kloss, as well as other notable celebrity figures.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Crawford was especially recognized for being extremely beautiful, and she even posed nude on several occasions. She continued to be a trailblazer in the fashion industry over the course of her career, inspiring designers and photographers alike. Crawford also began appearing in films and television shows, including “Fair Game” and “The Simian Line.” She was even the host and executive producer of the show “House of Style.”
However, the legendary model quit modeling full-time in 2000. Although she is still modeling today, she is not modeling as often as she once was. Fortunately for her fans, Crawford still occasionally appears in fashion magazines and other publications.
Crawford also has a very busy and fulfilling family life. She was once married to actor Richard Gere from 1991 to 1995. Although they didn’t work out, the model was able to find true love later on. She has been married to her second husband since May of 1998, meaning they’ve been married for over 24 years!

A strong family resemblance is nothing unusual, even among celebrities. But when your mom happens to be supermodel Cindy Crawford, one could say her offspring got very lucky! Crawford has two children with her husband Rande Gerber — a 22-year-old son named Presley Gerber, and a 20-year-old daughter named Kaia.
Both children take after their parents' stunning good looks — they are a very photogenic family indeed! — but it's Kaia who's followed in her mom's footsteps and is turning her good looks into a career. I mean, if you looked like your mom Crawford, you would too!
Considering she's only 20 years old, Kaia has already taken the fashion industry by storm, appearing in numerous fashion shows, magazines, advertisements and more already in her short career. In fact, in 2018, Kaia actually won the Model of the Year at The Fashion Awards.
The brunette beauty strongly takes after her mom Crawford, bearing the same deep-set chocolate eyes, luscious lips and statuesque figure. The pair seem very close, with Crawford often posting on Instagram about her daughter's achievements. In honor of her Model of the Year award, Crawford posted a photo of the two glammed up with the caption:
"Congratulations to my not so little girl @kaiagerber on your model of the year award! So proud of you! Xo"
One commenter wrote what many of us have all thought at one point:
"You look more like sisters, if you don't mind me saying so!"
In a more recent post, Crawford shared a behind-the-scenes photo of the two of them modeling together in a campaign, where she said:
"When your garage is converted into a studio, WFH takes on a whole new meaning! On set with my favorite model @kaiagerber and #normanjeanroy for @omega ❤️"

The mother-daughter duo is often photographed spending time together, proving that their connection really is genuine. In the summer of 2019, Kaia was photographed going out to lunch in New York with her parents. Ever the stylish zoomer, Kaia looked gorgeous in a black gingham minidress and sneakers, while Crawford looked classically stylish in a snakeskin print summer dress. Meanwhile, Rande donned a tried-and-true white T-shirt and blue jeans look.
With their closeness and dominance of the modeling industry in two very different eras, Crawford and Kaia were the perfect pair to sit down with Vogue and discuss the changes that have taken place in the industry, particularly modeling in the age of social media. In the lengthy interview from last year, Crawford discussed her entry into the industry at the age of 16 — before Vogue had an 18+ policy — while Kaia also began at the same age, albeit under the guidance of her mother.
Kaia spoke of her mother's influence on her career as she said:
"If anyone had a point of reference, I definitely did and one of the best ones. For me (modeling) wasn’t a foreign world to go into and I felt like I understood it. I knew what I was kind of getting into."
Crawford then explained the sage advice she lives by when modeling and that she passed on to her daughter: "Do your homework," meaning, know the previous work of the photographer or designer you're working with and come prepared. Considering Kaia's ever-growing career, we're sure she listened to her mom on that one.

On the topic of social media, Kaia explained how she wasn't able to learn from her mom, as they were both learning about it together. She acknowledged that while it's been refreshing for the world to see more behind-the-scenes images of models, proving that they don't just wake up looking gorgeous and Vogue-ready, it has taken a bit of the magic away from the industry.
Lastly, asked how she feels about comparisons to her famous mom, Kaia said:
"If I had to be compared to anyone in the whole world, it is the biggest compliment (to be compared to Crawford), especially when people tell me that I act like her. That, to me, is the biggest compliment to receive because she carries herself with the most poise, kindness, and grace."
It seems Crawford and Kaia are not only gorgeous faces but kind spirits too. As Kaia said, that's the ultimate comparison.
Even though Crawford has been an icon for the majority of her life, she still has some insecurities at times. According to PEOPLE, she has even apologized for being an older model but has worked at keeping her confidence high. “You feel a little apologetic that you can’t deliver in the same way you could when you were 20 or 25,” she said. The supermodel continued:
“There are times when that’s hard and I’m also sure it’s hard for my sisters who aren’t models. I want to do my job well, and I want to deliver but I also know that what I have to offer now is different from what I had to offer at 25.”
Surprisingly, Crawford said she doesn’t have any beauty secrets. However, she instead advocates for people to stay consistent with their routines.

“When people say, ‘What are your beauty secrets?’ I’m like, the beauty secrets are that there are no secrets,” the model said. “We all know: Get enough sleep, drink water, don’t smoke. We all know those things — the secret is doing it consistently.”
As someone who has been in the fashion industry for so long, Crawford has learned how important it is to take a step back at times, and has worked hard to share this lesson with her daughter. She explained:
“You need time when nobody is touching you. You need to take your makeup off, put sweatpants on, and step away from the fabulous world of fashion for a minute or two. The people (who are touching you), their job is to make you look better, so you’re grateful. But there is an abnormal amount of attention on you and sometimes you need to step away to realize that’s just not normal.”
Back in 2019, Crawford opened up about being a working model in her 50s — especially as someone who still poses nude and in more revealing clothing. According to Harper’s Bazaar, Crawford called out online trolls who judged her for the type of photoshoots she still participated in because of her age. She said:
“I remember some snarky person on Instagram — there seem to be a lot of those — posted something like, ‘Ah, why are you still doing those at your age?’ And I was like, is there an age where being nude isn’t beautiful? It’s just a different kind of beauty.”

The supermodel said that she hopes to encourage others to treat people with kindness. She also wants people to view models like they would view their friends to help build a more personal connection. “That is part of the reason I still do shoots,” Crawford told Harper's Bazaar.
Crawford also has a skincare line called Meaningful Beauty that has the goal of showing the beauty of confidence, according to the publication. Not only that but taking care of yourself is also important to allow your inner beauty to truly shine. “Using it daily along with avoiding the sun, not smoking, drinking lots of water, and getting enough sleep is key to looking and feeling good at any age,” Crawford explained.
Crawford has continued to show off her amazing beauty with fans all over the world through her Instagram page. She regularly posts gorgeous photos of herself and receives plenty of comments. Back in Aug. 2021, the model uploaded a photograph showing off her great figure in a bathing suit. The photo instantly began circulating around and garnered plenty of comments — and quite a mixed response. One person said, as reported by Yahoo, "time to let it go your ship has sailed," while another added, "Getting a little old for this...”
But the response wasn't all negative, and Hello! Magazine reported that even fellow celebrities couldn’t get enough of Crawford's photo, including supermodel Elle MacPherson and actress Lisa Rinna. One fan commented, “And still the champ!” Another added, “It’s Cindy Crawford — woman goddess!” A third said, “Cover girl!”
Now, even if some people think that Crawford is too old to be wearing a swimsuit at the age of 56, it’s clear that the supermodel will always have an abundance of fans showing their love and support for her.
