Priyanka Chopra Tackles Gossip About Separation From Nick Jonas & Opens Up About Wanting A Child

Priyanka Chopra is an Indian actress, model, singer and writer. She first gained recognition by portraying a range of characters in Indian films before going on to land a starring role in the thriller series “Quantico.” In 2021, she appeared in the most recent film in “The Matrix” series titled “The Matrix Resurrections.”

Chopra is incredibly talented and has won numerous awards and accolades over the course of her career. She has received plenty of honors throughout her lifetime, making her a wonderful role model to people of all walks of life. Despite sharing so much of her career in the public eye, Chopra prefers to keep her personal life more private, although that has been hard to do since she is married to a member of one of the biggest bands in the world – Nick Jonas from the Jonas Brothers.

Chopra and Jonas have been married since December 2018. The pair first began dating in May of that year and were engaged before the end of the summer. Their 10-year age gap has led to some public scrutiny, as well as some recent changes on Chopra’s social media accounts. 

The star previously went by Priyanka Chopra Jonas on her social media pages – as that is her full legal name – but dropped the Jonas surname from her Instagram bio back in November 2021. Rumors began circulating that the couple was on the brink of separation, and the actress has since opened up about what led to her decision to drop the name, as well as her hopes for the future and her desire to one day have a baby.

After finding incredible success as a movie actress in India, Chopra left home in hopes of making it big in the United States. It wasn’t long before she made her dreams a reality, and ended up starring in a handful of films and television shows, and even had a music career. According to Vanity Fair, Chopra became the first Bollywood star to be signed at CAA. She worked with record executive Jimmy Iovine and released a few singles. Chopra has also published a memoir titled “Unfinished.”

“It’s taken a lot of pavement pounding to be able to get people’s attention, and to be able to get an acceptance of the fact that someone like me can be the lead of a Hollywood feature,” Chopra said. “There’s very few of us from South Asia who get to do that. I hope that the part that I play in it will sort of push the envelope a little bit.”

While Chopra was already well known for her career, she found a new wave of media attention following her marriage to Jonas. However, the two have received some backlash from the public, especially following Chopra’s name change on Instagram in November 2021. According to Elle, Chopra changed her name from Priyanka Chopra Jonas to just Priyanka Chopra back in November 2021. 

This sparked separation rumors for the couple, but Chopra later confused people more by leaving sweet comments under her husband’s posts, all in the matter of a 12-hour span. She has since opened up about her reason behind the name change.

Speaking with Vanity Fair in January 2022, Chopra explained, “It’s a very vulnerable feeling, actually, that if I post a picture, everything that’s behind me in that picture is going to be zoomed in on, and people are going to speculate.”

Overwhelmed by the amount of people watching her every move, Chopra said that she is protecting herself more by withdrawing a bit from social media as a “professional hazard.” She added, “It takes a part of your soul, constantly trying to make sure that you say the right thing, do the right thing, dress the right way, not make a mistake, not trip because the whole world is going to watch.”

While some fans worried that Chopra and Jonas were breaking up, it’s clear that that isn’t happening and that the two have a lot of love for each other. “She can come across as so regal and refined, which she certainly is, but she’s also got this carefree joy about her and she just exudes it,” Jonas said.

He added, “We both know that public life is something that comes with what we do. But we’ve set real boundaries around our personal lives, our privacy, and worked really hard to create that little safe haven for ourselves with our friends and family.”

When it comes to family, Chopra and Jonas are both open to expanding theirs by having children of their own. “They’re a big part of our desire for the future,” Chopra said. “By God’s grace, when it happens, it happens.” Knowing their lives would have to slow down to raise a child, Chopra admitted that she would be “OK with that.”
