At some point in time, just about every car owner or driver will accidentally lock their keys in their car. This mistake is easy to do, especially if you are stressed, overwhelmed, have your hands full or are dealing with an out-of-the-ordinary circumstance.

This was the case for one man. He accidentally locked his keys in his car, and his toddler daughter, just one-year-old, was buckled into her car seat.

The man immediately panicked when he realized that his keys and his little girl were locked inside of his car. The man's wife was outside of the car too, and she did not have her keys with her.

Although it was a mild 72 degrees Fahrenheit at the time, the man knew that the temperature inside of a vehicle can quickly rise on a sunny day. This dad knew that he needed to take immediate action before his daughter got upset and before the temperature inside of the vehicle got too hot.

Fortunately for this dad, he was parked outside of a judicial center and municipal building.

It was a weekday during business hours, which meant that there were plenty of people in the area. It did not take the man long to find a group of people who were willing to lend him a hand.

A crew of inmates was out on a work detail next to the judicial center. They were cleaning trash from the median and streets. When they heard of the man's problem, they came to action.

Several of the inmates had skills related to getting into cars without keys. The supervising sheriff gave his permission for the inmates to help the man. Within two minutes, the inmates had the car's door open.

Sheriff Chris Nocco of the Pasco Sheriff’s Office shared with WFTS that he agreed that his inmates had just the right set of skills to help the man. He was pleased that his crew could lend a hand when needed.

"A lot of them, like these individuals, they know they made bad mistakes, bad choices, but they want to do the right thing in life," he added.
