High school senior Kaitlyn Watson received some great news while she was on her shift at a Michigan restaurant's drive-thru — she was the class of 2020's valedictorian! The wonderful announcement was delivered by her school principal Michelle Floering and caught on camera.

The plan went ahead when Floering ordered a custard at the restaurant and then drove through to reach Kaitlyn at the window. She then excitedly delivered the news to the senior by saying on camera:

"Hi Kaitlyn. So, I got you on camera because I want to announce something to you today, you are GTA's 2020 class valedictorian!"

Kaitlyn reacted with surprise, saying thank you and exclaiming "Oh my gosh!"

The news was delivered in a unique way, partially because of social distancing guidelines. Floering noted that the honor was well deserved however she couldn't celebrate with a big hug because they had to stay six feet apart.

The jovial principal then joked that Kaityln's colleague had her credit card and she needed it back according to CBS.

Congratulations to Kaityln for being this year's high school valedictorian! It's a big achievement for a high schooler, and her principal added to the joy by delivering the news in a wonderful way.
