Princess Eugenie Reveals Stylish Color Scheme At Frogmore Cottage

Jul 28, 2021 by apost team

Royal couple Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank have had a wonderful year, as the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on Tuesday, Feb. 9. Named August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, the infant is Queen Elizabeth's ninth great-grandchild and the first grandchild of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. The baby boy is currently 11th in line to the throne, though he does not have a royal title.

The couple announced the arrival with an Instagram post of a black-and-white family photo and a simple caption of three blue hearts. Buckingham Palace issued a statement after the birth. Ever since, Eugenie has been posting photos of her adorable new son on her Instagram channel, including on the occasion of Brooksbank's birthday on May 3 and on Father's Day.

The couple is raising their son in Windsor, England, where they've been living in Frogmore Cottage, which is actually owned by Eugenie's cousin Prince Harry. Frogmore Cottage was known for being the UK residence of Harry and Meghan Markle when they were still working royals, but ever since their move to the United States, Harry has offered the place to his cousin and her new family.

Although we haven't been lucky enough to get a full tour of the residence, Eugenie has shared some images on social media that have given the public a glimpse into what the decor looks like. Opting for a neutral color palette with barely any color in sight, the design theme of the cottage is proving to be very modern and tasteful, much like Eugenie herself.

We got the first glimpse of Frogmore Cottage's interior since Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have lived there back in June when the royal shared a video of her infant son on social media. Taken in the kitchen, the video doesn't reveal much — not even baby August's face! — but from what we can see, the ground is covered in gorgeous, rustic wood flooring, while the kitchen features large cream tiles and matching cream cabinetry. From this small glimpse, it appears the style that Eugenie has gone with throughout is classic yet modern.

Interestingly, from what we've seen of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Montecito, California home, it also appears to be decorated in a similar neutral color palette. While Eugenie and her husband would likely have changed the interiors of Frogmore Cottage to suit their tastes, it is possible that the built-in furnishings of the house are the same from when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had it renovated in April 2019.

This color palette extends to the living room, which features cream paneled walls and a white couch that's been dressed up with oversized boho cushions. Eugenie revealed this part of the house in a photo she shared to Instagram that includes her husband asleep on the couch, while baby August sleeps on his chest.

In yet another photo of Brooksbank and the couple's son, the room he's in features beige walls and white doors. Possibly a home office for the couple, the photo shows once again that neutrals are in vogue at Frogmore Cottage.

Eugenie's penchant for classic and clean neutrals is in contrast to the house she grew up in, Royal Lodge, where both of her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, still live. The sprawling country manor is decorated in a decadent and rich design that features clashing prints and bold colors.

In one photo shared by Ferguson on Instagram, she's wearing a vivid green dress that matches the bright green wall of her hallway. Meanwhile, the home also has oversized floral rugs, while grand features like floor-to-ceiling windows and big chandeliers add to the overall style.

While both homes are undoubtedly beautiful, they are certainly different in how they've been decorated. Perhaps after growing up in such a colorful home with her parents, Eugenie now favors neutrals, which are very on-trend.

The Sussexes have also opted for the modern color palette in their US home, which although they haven't opened up to the public, we have been lucky enough to see some areas via video calls. When Markle appeared on "America's Got Talent" in Sep. 2020, the pre-recorded video showed off the couple's bright and cozy living room, which also featured a white couch and boho cushions, just like Eugenie's home.

The airy and bright room was decorated with cream walls that were covered in artwork, while on a shelf behind her were a stack of large coffee table books, including "The Black Godfather" and "Women," candles, including from the prestige French brand Diptyque in the scent "Tuberose," and a vase of hydrangeas. Overall the vibe was very relaxed and cozy.
