Sep 13, 2022 by apost team

Princess Diana was one of the most prominent figures of the royal family due to her class, glamor and kind heart. She was known for her impeccable sense of fashion, her charitable ways and her overall friendliness and charming personality with everyone around her. Loved by many, Diana was easily a topic of conversation and the center of attention wherever she went.

Born into the British nobility, she grew up close to the royal family and later married into it when she married Prince Charles in 1981, thus making her the Princess of Wales. The general public had a fondness for the new princess and took to her liking pretty well. Together, Diana and Charles had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. However, the couple’s marriage was full of problems, leading to a separation in 1992 and a divorce in 1996.

Diana died on Aug. 31, 1997, from the injuries she sustained in a car crash in a tunnel in Paris, France, which caused widespread media attention and mourning from people all over the world. Her untimely death has been the topic of conversation for many years, as there are still plenty of questions surrounding the tragic incident.

Today, we are looking back at some of her iconic fashion choices and outfits over the years with a special photo feature.

One of the most iconic and well-remembered outfits Diana ever wore is without a question her famous wedding dress. It became one of the most famous dresses in the world and was kept a closely guarded secret before the ceremony. Many people wanted to know what the happy bride would be wearing, but the designers working on the special piece did their best to not let anything reach the press. When the dress was finally revealed in July 1981, many newspapers ran articles featuring sketches of the royal outfit.

Our lovely Lady Diana Spencer arrived at the Cannes Film Festival wearing a pale blue silk chiffon strapless dress with a matching chiffon stole designed by Catherine Walker.

She and her still-husband Charles were greeted by the then Lady Mayor of Cannes while attending a gala night in honor of actor Sir Alec Guinness. Judging from the faces in the background, it's safe to say that her outfit stunned.

While on a vacation in 1988, a rather iconic picture of the late princess wearing a colorful bikini was taken. Princess Diana often chose to wear more colorful, extravagant or slightly off-style outfits on private vacation outings, and this floral patterned bikini was one of them. The picture was taken in Spain, where she was vacationing on a private yacht.

She wore a bolero dress designed by Victor Edelstein at a dinner in the Elysee Palace in Paris, France, during the Royal Tour of France. Boleros are not easy to pull off, but if there's somebody that can, it's the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry. Although the outfit is simpler than many the late Princess favored, it still managed to perfectly capture the grace she embodied.

She rocked this one-shoulder red and black floral gown by Catherine Walker at a dinner at the British Embassy in Paris, France. As Princess Diana so gracefully demonstrated, bold patterns do not have to look ridiculous. If you wear them with confidence and poise, and if you know how to accessorize loud patterns it will make you stand out, even if it's 1988.

The highlight of her visit to the Pyramids of Giza was what she was wearing. The photographers were upset that she had chosen a tan-colored outfit, which made her blend in with the desert scenery, instead of something more colorful that would make her stand out for the cameras. But this fashion icon made it look like she was posing for Yves Saint Laurent.

This Christina Stambolian number is perhaps her most well-known outfit. Also known as the “I don’t give a damn” or “revenge” dress. Roughly three decades ago, her ex-husband Prince Charles revealed that he had been unfaithful to her in a much-anticipated primetime television interview.

The next day, it was Diana in a figure-hugging black cocktail dress showing much more skin than royals should, heading to Vanity Fair’s annual fundraising event for the Serpentine Gallery in London’s Hyde Park who made the bigger splash in the papers.

She'd arrived at the Serpentine Gallery, London in a grey, beaded, halter-neck dress by Catherine Walker. Only Diana could make such a plunging neckline look this classy, and the way the light hits her truly emphasizes her regality.

If Diana were a millennial like Drake, she would be nicknamed 'Champagne Mami,' just for wow-ing 10 years later in this champagne-colored dress also designed by Catherine Walker. Paired with the dress was the Jimmy Choos she had strutted in as she attended the Christie's Party in New York.
