Princess Charlotte's Hair Bow at Trooping the Color Is the Detail Royal Fans Are Still Talking About

Jun 17, 2026 by apost team

Princess Charlotte has always had a way of standing out — not by trying to, but simply by being herself. Born on May 2, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital in London, she arrived as the only daughter of Prince William and Princess Catherine — and from early on, it was clear she had a personality all her own. Royal watchers have long noted her striking resemblance to her late grandmother, Princess Diana, and like Diana, Charlotte has never needed much effort to command a room.

At public appearances, she has consistently shown a composure well beyond her years — waving to crowds, greeting officials, and carrying herself with a quiet confidence that royal fans find irresistible. But she has also shown flashes of the spirited, playful girl behind the title. At the King's Cup regatta in 2019, she was spotted sticking her tongue out at the crowd. At her brother Prince Louis' christening, she reportedly barred photographers from entering, announcing simply: "You're not coming!"

Now 11, Charlotte is growing into her public role with increasing grace. She has become particularly known for her polished yet personal approach to dressing — always coordinated with her family, always with a detail that feels distinctly her own. It is a quality she shares with her mother, whose own eye for meaningful, considered style has become one of the most admired in the world.

Charlotte currently stands fifth in line to the throne, behind her father, King Charles, her grandfather, and her older brother, Prince George. As she grows, so does the quiet sense that she is becoming one of the most compelling young figures in the royal family.

That sense was very much on display on June 13, when Charlotte joined her family for King Charles' official birthday parade, Trooping the Color, in London. She traveled in a horse-drawn carriage alongside her mother, Catherine and brothers, George and Louis, while her father, William, rode on horseback in the military procession, as he had for years.

The family coordinated beautifully, as they always do on occasions like this. Kate wore a pale blue Catherine Walker ensemble with a Philip Treacy hat, while George and Louis wore matching ties. Charlotte's white dress — featuring delicate pale blue flowers on closer inspection — tied the whole family look together effortlessly, connecting her outfit to the rest of her family without a single detail feeling forced.

Her hair was worn in her now-signature style: pulled back in a half-ponytail, the way she has worn it time and again at public outings, including three separate appearances in December 2025 alone. It has become her hallmark — a small but consistent personal signature in a family where every detail is noticed and remembered.

But at Trooping the Color, Charlotte took that signature and turned it all the way up. Royal reporter Rebecca English confirmed via X that the accessory holding Charlotte's half-ponytail in place was a large organza bow by celebrated milliner Jane Taylor — her biggest bow yet, with her locks twisted elegantly near it. For a young royal still finding her style, it was a statement. And it landed perfectly.
