Princess Charlotte Looks So Similar To The Queen In Christmas Family Pic

Dec 18, 2021 by apost team

As is tradition every year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released their official Christmas card photo for 2021, and as always, it's simply gorgeous. The release of a new family photo of Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with their three children Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3, is always a highlight of the holidays for royal fans.

This year's card is a little different from previous years. The last two Christmas cards saw the family photographed in autumnal settings, as they donned warm weather clothing, while this year's photo was taken in the summer.

Last year's card featured the family dressed in sweaters and boots as they sat on a haystack in front of a large woodpile at Anmer Hall, their home in Norfolk. The atmosphere was very cozy and matched the colder weather of the holiday season. In the photo, Charlotte's resemblance to her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II was well noted. The previous year the Cambridges were similarly rugged up in sweaters as they posed in front of trees that had begun to turn color.

This year's photo is in stark contrast to the previous Christmas card photos as it was taken during the summer on a family trip to Jordan. In the image, the royals donned summer clothing as they posed in front of a rock wall. However, their warm, family vibe remained the same as always.

The photo was posted to social media and, just like in 2020, many royal fans again pointed out Charlotte's resemblance to the queen when she was her age. Read on to see the adorable photo and decide for yourself if the princess really looks like her great-grandmother.

The year 2021 has marked a decade since the duke and duchess exchanged vows in front of the world at Westminster Abbey. Since then, the royal couple has been busy building a family, and nowadays it's always a delight when they release new family photos.

In the 2021 family Christmas photo, which was posted on the family's official Instagram page, the family of five looked relaxed and happy on their summer vacation. The caption alongside the image read:

"Delighted to share a new image of the family, which features on this year's Christmas card 🎄"

Kate looked gorgeous as always in an olive green dress with her hair worn down in waves. William opted for a matching olive green polo shirt and beige khaki shorts, while George wore a similar outfit to his father, however his polo shirt was a khaki camouflage print. Charlotte switched the colors up with a blue and navy gingham dress, while Louis copied her lead and wore a blue striped polo shirt.

The family was photographed in front of a large rock wall as they sat on various items including a gold ottoman and what appears to be animal fur. Jordan holds a special significance for Kate as she lived there for two years when she was a child due to her father's work for British Airways. Meanwhile, William visited the country back in 2018 as part of his tour of the Middle East.

The image was taken by royal photographer Matt Porteous, who has taken many photos of special moments in the Cambridge family's lives, including Louis' christening.

In the photo, many people believed Charlotte looked just like her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. Her resemblance to the queen has been long drawn by fans since the little royal was a baby but this year's card only highlighted this even more.

On Instagram, the photo has received nearly two million likes and thousands of comments. One royal fan pointed out: "So beautiful ❤️❤️ Charlotte looks just like Queen Elizabeth when Elizabeth was her age." To which another person replied, "Twin to the Queen 😍"

The Christmas card picture was also posted to Twitter where others made the connection between Charlotte's appearance and the queen when she was a child. A person added under the photo, "What a handsome family. You can really see Queen Elizabeth in Princess Charlotte." Another fan replied, writing, "I thought so too... a younger Queen Elizabeth with straight hair!"

Fans also mentioned that Louis has a strong resemblance to his grandfather Michael Middleton and his uncle James Middleton, while George looks like Charles Spencer.

Details of the family's trip to Jordan have not been released, because it was a private family vacation and not an official royal tour. But there is speculation that it took place during the second half of 2021.

Earlier in December 2021, many of the royals came out to attend a carol concert that took place at Westminster Abbey. Kate hosted the event and was supported by William and other royals including Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Eugenie, and Mike and Zara Tindall. Kate's family, including her siblings and parents Carole and Michael Middleton, were also seen at the Abbey.
