Princess Charlotte Is Taking After Mother Kate Middleton With Her Charming Confidence And Girl Power
May 08, 2020 by apost team
Princess Charlotte of Cambridge turned five years old on May 2, 2020. But despite the royal child’s young age, Charlotte has already made quite an impression on British society with her confidence, charm and girl power — all of which she seems to get from her mother, the inspiring Kate Middleton.

Though it may seem like an entirely different era, Charlotte was born just a half decade ago on a Saturday at the Lindo Wing of London's St Mary's Hospital weighing 8lbs 3oz (3.7kg), according to BBC’s reporting at the time. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge named the princess, who is fourth in line to the throne, at least partly in accordance with royal tradition, selecting a name with historical significance. George III’s Queen popularized the name Charlotte, the female variant of Charles, in the 18th century, and thus it’s a name with a certain historical weight. Speaking to Charlotte's name, historian Judith Rowbotham of the University of Plymouth told BBC in 2015 that: "None of the Charlottes in the history of the British royal family have been lacking in character and personality, so one hopes that this one lives up to that name.”
Following Charlotte’s momentous arrival, Prince Charles certainly seemed happy and was already thinking of the future. Speaking publicly for the first time after her name and birth were announced to the public, the then 66-year-old told Express: "She is beautiful.” Later adding, “I was hoping for a granddaughter — someone to look after me when I am very old.” And as all good grandfathers do, Prince Charles also admitted that he’d spoil Charlotte rotten.

But rather than appearing spoiled or overshadowed by her royal title, Charlotte has shown the world that she can be quite a humble, mature and charming public figure, following in her mother’s footsteps. We can think back to her first curtsey to the Queen, as Town and Country reports, at the Christmas Day services at Sandringham's St. Mary Magdalene. There she surprised fans and reporters around the UK with her elegant royal etiquette. Walking alongside her mother as her family left the church, Kate curtsied to her mother-in-law, the Queen. And looking to Kate as a role model, Charlotte followed suit with a dutiful courtesy.
Charlotte was four at the time and had just joined her brother at Thomas Battersea, a private school in London that fall, according to Town and Country. Upon arrival at her new school, Charlotte once again demonstrated her precocious royal poise. The magazine reports that the then 4-year-old politely looked Thomas Battersea’s head of school in the eyes and shook her hand — not to mention her near perfect curtsey.

While only time will tell what awaits young Charlotte in the future, it’s likely that if she continues to take after her mother — the dignified and ever-graceful 38-year-old Kate Middleton — she will grow up to be a charming role model for women and girls everywhere.
