Princess Catherine Quickly Ditches Startling Blonde Locks For Her Classic Brunette

Princess Catherine has returned to her signature brunette look after briefly debuting what many described as her blondest shade yet. On Sept. 8, 2025, the Princess of Wales, 43, made a surprise public appearance when she accompanied her husband, Prince William, to an engagement with The National Federation of Women’s Institutes in Sunningdale.

The royal couple attended the event to honor the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. This solemn occasion continues to hold deep significance for the royal family and the nation. Catherine’s appearance naturally drew attention not only for the importance of the event but also because of her ever-discussed style and beauty choices.

Known globally for her polished fashion sense and trend-setting influence, the princess has long been admired for her glossy brunette tresses, a defining feature of her public image. However, in late summer 2025, royal watchers were taken by surprise when Catherine debuted noticeably lighter hair. She was first spotted with brighter locks during a private church outing near Balmoral Castle on Aug. 24, 2025.

This visit was particularly noteworthy as Balmoral is a place closely associated with the late Queen Elizabeth II and where members of the royal family often gather each summer. The transformation was even more striking when Catherine stepped out again on Sept. 4, 2025, at London’s Natural History Museum. There, her honey-blonde hair was on full display, sparking headlines and conversations about whether she was experimenting with a new seasonal style.

The dramatic shift in Princess Catherine’s hairstyle truly surprised royal watchers, as the lighter hue represented her boldest transformation yet. Not only was the color striking, but the length of her hair also appeared noticeably longer than usual, making the change even more remarkable.

Since marrying into the royal family in 2011, the Princess of Wales has rarely strayed from her signature brunette shade, which she typically wears in her classic bouncy blowout. This consistency over the years has made her style instantly recognizable and an enduring source of inspiration for admirers worldwide.

For her 2011 wedding, she showcased a timeless half-up, half-down look that became one of her most iconic appearances. In more recent years, particularly from 2023 onwards, Catherine has leaned into lighter “bronde” shades, blending her classic brunette with golden hues for a softer, more contemporary finish.

Her brief experiment with honey blonde lasted only from late August into early September 2025, before she quickly returned to her familiar darker look. By Sept. 6, when she attended the Women’s Rugby World Cup match between England and Australia in East Sussex, her hair appeared to be a deeper brown once again.

At that outing, Catherine styled her long locks in an elegant half-updo with soft curls. The pulled-back style gave her a polished appearance, though it made it slightly difficult to determine just how dark her shade had become.

Earlier in the summer of 2025, Catherine’s hair maintained a rich chestnut tone, seen during major events including Trooping the Colour in June and the French state banquet in July. Her glossy chestnut locks were also evident when she attended Wimbledon on July 12 and 13, 2025, marking her last public appearances before the family’s traditional summer break.

These seasonal changes show how even subtle adjustments to her hair color continue to capture public fascination.
