Each year, the royal family has a full social calendar with commemorations and celebrations. While some are more serious and formal, Trooping the Colour is one of the more relaxed ones. The British royal family’s appearance at Trooping the Colour 2024 was nothing short of regal, and in 2025, they did not disappoint. With the Princess of Wales back to her royal duties, the family stepped out among the crowds to celebrate the occasion. Still, one duo, in particular, stole the spotlight: Princess Catherine and her daughter, Princess Charlotte. The mother-daughter pair made a striking statement as they arrived in near-matching aqua ensembles, delighting fans with their elegant coordination.
Trooping the Colour is also known as the Sovereign’s Birthday Parade. Held annually to celebrate the monarch’s official birthday, 2025’s Trooping the Colour took on extra significance as it marked Princess Catherine’s first public appearance at the event since announcing her remission after undergoing cancer treatment. Her presence, as well as her stylish nod to continuity and resilience through fashion, was warmly welcomed. The Princess of Wales is known for her timeless elegance and charm, and Princess Charlotte, now 10, mirrored her mother’s grace and poise.
The Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10 and Prince Louis, 7, were seen riding in a glass coach to the Horse Guards Parade, where the military pageantry unfolded in full splendor. Catherine and Charlotte’s fashion choices immediately drew attention to their subtle coordination.

The official social media pages of the royal family shared candid images and videos of the family celebrating Trooping the Colour to their millions of followers. Pictures of Princess Catherine and Princess Charlotte stole the show as they both looked chic in aquamarine ensembles, reminding the public of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was known for her love of colourful suits. Catherine’s pearl drop earrings also belonged to the late monarch.
The Princess of Wales wore an aqua dress coat by Catherine Walker, which she accessorized with a bright hat by Juliette Botterill in the same hue. In line with the event, she also added an Irish Guards regiment brooch to her look. Adorably matching her mother, Charlotte looked charming in a pale aqua look with her hair pulled back into two half-braids.
Although Trooping the Colour celebrates the monarch’s birthday, King Charles III will not turn 77 until Nov. 14, 2025. The day is meant to celebrate his birthday with the public. Trooping the Colour seems to be a favorite among the royals, with Princess Catherine having attended the event every single year since her wedding to Prince William in 2011, including in 2024, while receiving cancer treatment. Many gathered in the street to watch as the royals passed by in horse-drawn carriages. The royals thanked the public for their attendance by sharing a heartwarming photograph on social media of the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children smiling happily into the camera. The picture was captioned:
“Another brilliant day at Trooping the Colour for His Majesty’s Birthday Parade. Thank you to everybody who came, and to all those who took part.”
The Princess of Wales was a welcome presence at the event, and we look forward to seeing more of her.
