Princess Catherine and Prince William traded royal engagements for a glamorous night on the red carpet on Sept. 22, 2026, reuniting with Tom Cruise at the London premiere of his highly anticipated new movie, “Digger.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales arrived at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square for the world premiere, which also served as this year’s Royal Film Performance in support of the Film and TV Charity. The star-studded evening gave the couple an opportunity to meet Cruise and the film’s cast and creative team, including director Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Catherine, 44, made a particularly glamorous entrance in a floor-length plum-colored Jenny Packham gown featuring a plunging neckline, ruched detailing and a dramatic, flowing skirt. She completed the look with a heart-shaped amethyst necklace and pearl earrings, with the necklace reported to be the Queen Mother’s amethyst sautoir. The piece was previously worn by Queen Camilla at the 2012 premiere of “Skyfall.”

William, also 44, looked equally polished in a classic black tuxedo and bow tie as he joined his wife for the high-profile evening.

But the couple’s reunion with Cruise was arguably one of the biggest highlights of the night.

The Hollywood star greeted Princess Catherine and Prince William warmly as they arrived, with Cruise seen holding Catherine’s hand as he guided her down a flight of steps. The princess also appeared to share a friendly greeting with the actor before the trio posed and chatted together.

Cruise, 64, is no stranger to the royal couple. He previously joined William and Catherine at the U.K. premiere of “Top Gun: Maverick” in May 2022, when the trio also shared the spotlight on the red carpet. The actor appeared especially pleased to have the Prince and Princess of Wales in attendance for “Digger.” During the premiere, Cruise thanked the couple, saying:

The evening was particularly significant for the film industry because the Royal Film Performance raises funds for the Film and TV Charity, which provides support to people working behind the scenes in the entertainment industry.

For Cruise, the premiere also marked the unveiling of one of his most dramatic transformations yet. In “Digger,” he plays Digger Rockwell, an enormously wealthy oil tycoon who finds himself trying to convince the world that he can save humanity after a catastrophe linked to his own actions. The satirical black comedy was directed by Iñárritu and also stars Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Jesse Plemons and Michael Stuhlbarg.

Cruise previously revealed that transforming into the character involved extensive prosthetic makeup, with the process initially taking as long as six hours before he helped bring it down to less than an hour.

With Catherine and William bringing a touch of royal glamour to the occasion, Cruise bringing Hollywood star power and “Digger” providing the night’s main attraction, the Leicester Square premiere proved to be a memorable reunion for three familiar faces who clearly know how to command a red carpet.
