Princess Catherine has long been admired for her timeless style, poise and elegance, making her one of the world's most graceful and stylish women. The 43-year-old has undoubtedly caught the attention of fashion enthusiasts worldwide with her effortless aesthetic, possibly contributing to her being the most popular member of the royal family.
While she may be one of the most powerful and influential women in the world, ironically, Catherine doesn’t always get to have it her way when it comes to her physical appearance. A set of rules govern how members of the royal family dress, appear and style their clothes.
For one, her dresses and skirts must always be at an appropriate length, preferably never “more than three or four inches above her knee.” Colorful nail polish is also not allowed, with only natural-looking nails preferred. The strict dress code also severely limits Princess Catherine’s style, particularly her hair. The Princess of Wales has never been spotted with unnatural hair coloring, nor does she wear her hair in extreme styles. Instead, she usually looks demure and classy, all the while constantly switching up her look. She surrounds herself with a team of hair experts who understand how to keep her look fresh and beautiful.
Over the years, we’ve seen some of Princess Catherine’s best hairdos, but almost none of us were prepared for a nearly blonde switch-up she debuted in April 2025. Adding this to her long list of hits, we’ve compiled some of our favorite ways we’ve seen the Princess of Wales’ hair styled.

In 2016, the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Princess Catherine, embarked on a royal tour of Canada. While this tour saw its fair share of iconic looks from the two, Catherine’s hairstyles stood out. They made royal watchers worldwide understand why she was a rising style icon. She kicked the tour off in style when she attended the official welcome ceremony wearing her chocolate-hued hair in a voluminous chignon that looked elegantly chic and classically royal. The hairstyle was held up subtly by pins, making the royal look well put together and modern.
Catherine is also known for her iconic Remembrance Day hairstyles. In the summer of 2017, she cut her long hair short, then made it appear even shorter for Remembrance Day when she pinned her locks until they were near shoulder length. Pairing the chic hairstyle with a wide-brimmed hat, Catherine looked ever-so-royal, making this one of the favorite hairstyles we’ve seen on her so far.
After a hiatus from the public eye and royal duties and engagements, while undergoing cancer treatment in 2024, the Princess of Wales surprised everyone when she showed up to watch a tennis match in July. After a trying year, this rare appearance at Wimbledon earned her a standing ovation from the crowds. She wore a charming summer lilac dress with her hair styled down, keeping her signature side in place. This is one of Princess Catherine’s usual looks, and she looked terrific.

The Princess of Wales turned heads when she debuted a striking new look while out in Scotland on April 29, 2025, coinciding with her 14th wedding anniversary with Prince William. She unveiled a striking new look during their visit to the Isle of Mull in Scotland, where the two celebrated the milestone.
Catherine left royal watchers in awe by showcasing a lighter, caramel-toned hairstyle, transitioning from her signature deep, chestnut brunette locks to a sun-kissed shade that appeared to have a lighter undertone of blonde. This in-between hue is known as “bronde,” and the Princess of Wales seemed to have perfected it. This fresh hair color, catching the light with its golden hues, definitely rejuvenated the appearance of the royal, who is known as the Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland. It’s also part of Catherine’s return to the public eye and royal engagements since her cancer remission announcement.
Catherine and William looked fresh-faced as they went out and about in Mull in casual yet comfortable outfits. The Princess of Wales wore a chic blazer, skinny jeans, brown boots and a blue denim-style shirt. However, what stood out the most was the detailing of her jewellery. She wore a necklace with the initials G, C and L, an adorable nod to her three children.
While the Princess of Wales is known for her signature brunette hair, her new bronde look isn’t the first time she has switched things up. In 2016, she experimented with bangs for a short while, and although they were short-lived, she brought them back in 2023, although this time, they were longer. Still, she is known for her iconic luscious hair and has, over the years, impressed fans with her hairstyles.
These are just a few of Princess Catherine’s most iconic hairdos; we can’t wait to see more of her style!
