Princess Beatrice And Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi Cancel Royal Wedding Reception Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

With social distancing becoming a crucial part in fighting the outbreak of COVID-19, many are now being forced to cancel social gatherings and important events. 

This is also the case for Princess Beatrice and her fiance Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, as the couple have now had to cancel their wedding reception at Buckingham Palace. The pair is due get married on May 29. 

According to the Sun, Princess Beatrice and her fiance, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have officially canceled their upcoming wedding reception at Buckingham Palace due to the outbreak of COVID-19. 

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said, 

"Princess Beatrice and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi are very much looking forward to getting married but are equally aware of the need to avoid undertaking any unnecessary risks in the current circumstances.”

The amendments to their wedding plans are in line with the UK government’s advice on hindering the spread of the virus.

"They are particularly conscious of government advice in relation to both the wellbeing of older family members and large gatherings of people.”

Because of this, the couple has ultimately decided to cancel their wedding reception at Buckingham Palace. 

The spokesperson added that the couple will now be deciding whether they will be postponing their wedding altogether or host a small, intimate ceremony with close friends and family. 

The news comes just one day after the cancellation of the Chelsea flower show was announced. Other Royal events such as Trooping the Color and the Derby are also likely to be canceled.
