If Anne does take over the role, she will be the first female captain-general of the Royal Marines. It will add to her many positions military positions as Admiral and Chief Commandant for Women in the Royal Navy, Commodore-in-Chief of HMNB Portsmouth, and Colonel of the Blues and Royals according to Bustle.

Like Harry, her duties would involve regular visits to the marines, according to Forces.net.

Prince Harry and his wife Megan Markle announced on their Instagram that they will be stepping back from royal duties, the caption reading:

“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”

Since their surprising announcement, the royal family has had to find a compromise for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s future roles. The Queen released a statement at the end of January saying, they “have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family.”
