For his new BBC documentary called Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health, Prince William met up with the heads of the Premier League, the Football Association, and the English Football League recently to discuss male mental health and opened up about his funny first experience watching soccer with his son Prince George.
The Duke of Cambridge has spent the past year campaigning to change attitudes to mental health in Britain. Spurred on by the fact that suicide is the biggest killer of young men under 45 in the country, he wants to use football as a way to get men talking and to break the taboo that surrounds mental health. He wants to help men show the same passion and openness away from the game.
The BBC documentary Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health follows William as he meets players and fans from grassroots to the elite of the game challenges including former England goalkeeper Joe Hart, former Premier League footballer Marvin Sordell and Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and openly discusses their mental health.

An avid soccer supporter cheering for Aston Villa, Prince William couldn't help but recall the first-ever soccer match his young son Prince George attended with him last year. William and Kate brought Prince George to a soccer match last October. However, instead of all eyes on the field, the little royal stole the show as he jumped up and down in excitement over the game.
The sports commentators showed a clip of prince George which was reshared on The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Instagram page. In the clip, George is seen which a giant smile on his face and his fist in the air as he jumps up and down in glee. "I wasn’t celebrating — that was the problem," the 40-year-old told PEOPLE. "I was sat with all the Norwich fans," he added. "So George was doing my bit of celebrating for me."
The commentators can be heard chuckling in the video while saying, “With royal approval, how about that? George is very happy indeed. It doesn’t matter what your background is that is what football means.”
Aston Villa was playing against Norwich City in the Premier League as the royal family cheered on. It was clear Aston Villa was George’s favorite team as he dressed in their team’s colors. The sport’s team did not disappoint this little royal as they went to win the match 5-1.
