Prince William Becomes Patron Of A Charity That Is Close To His Heart
Mar 17, 2020 by apost team
Prince William is now a patron of the Air Ambulance Charity of London. This announcement comes on the heels of the Duke of Cambridge’s participation in the charity’s 30th-anniversary campaign of 2019.
The Royals are well-known for their public role during speaking engagements and state occasions. A significantly lesser-known job held by Prince William was as an emergency service pilot. For more than two years, the Duke of Cambridge piloted an emergency aircraft for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

During his stint with the air ambulance company, the prince witnessed firsthand the critical role such specialty transport services have in emergency medicine. He piloted many life-saving journeys and was proud to serve as a member of such important healthcare teams. As a result of his experiences, the prince knows how important every moment is to the survival of the patients transported.
Considering his personal experience, becoming a yearlong participant in the Air Ambulance Charity’s 30th-anniversary campaign in 2019 was an easy decision for the Duke of Cambridge. During this banner year, the prince co-piloted the standby London Air Ambulance helicopter during his visit to the Royal London Hospital. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also named this emergency air charity as one of its beneficiaries during the prestigious King’s Cup sailing regatta in August.
Officials with the Air Ambulance Charity are expecting another successful year. Jonathan Jenkins, the charity’s CEO, welcome Prince William's support as giving to this charity will set a good example many of his subjects will want to follow. Jenkins explained:
“We are honoured that the Duke of Cambridge has chosen to become Patron of London’s Air Ambulance charity after getting to know us last year. The Duke truly understands our work and knows that every second counts in an emergency. We know that with his help as well as the continued support of the public, our crews can reach those who need them most – serving the people of London 24 hours a day, every day of the year.”

Prince William will continue his charitable work on behalf of the Air Ambulance Charity. It is hoped his 2020 role as Patron of the London charity will increase interest in and gifts to the organization.
