From stepping off the plane for the first day of their tour, Kate Middleton paid tribute to Prince William's late mother. The Duchess of Cambridge glowed in a turquoise shalwar-kameez by fashion designer Catherine Walker.

The outfit is the national dress of Pakistan which includes a long gown over pants. The ombre shift of the turquoise color appearing lighter towards Kate’s torso and then getting darker towards her feet gave the dress an effortless appeal.

The designer, Catherine Walker, was one of Princess Diana’s favorites. Walker had designed more than 1,000 items for the late princess including the gown Diana was buried in according to The National.

William and Kate made a stop at the Badshahi mosque in Lahore, the same mosque Princess Diana visited in 1991. The Islamic site calls for attendees to walk barefoot which Diana and the royal couple abided by.

The Badshahi Mosque is one of Lahore's best landmarks and is capable of accommodating over 55,000 worshippers. It is also the second-largest mosque in Pakistan.

The couple met with scholars and religious leaders while they visited the mosque. Dr. Ayesha Leghari, a Sunni Muslim scholar told People about Kate and William, "They were interested in finding out about how the youth thought about interfaith interactions."

He also complimented the couple on their listening skills saying, "There are different types of listening. Active listening and empathetic listening. They were not just active but empathetic too. We were very pleased. They were very charming and interested in each one of us.”
